S7R Forza 4 R3-Class Tourney - Season 1

This is it! It has been a long and interesting journey be we have finally arrived at the end of Season 1. This is what all the hard work and long hours have been leading up to and in just a few days we name not only a R3-Class Champion but the Season 1 Grand Champion as well. It is a very exciting time and everything is on the line. The upcoming Tourney marks the first time we have ever held an R3-Class race. These cars are going to be crazy fast and very hard to control. It's going to take everything you have learned over the season to keep these cars on the road and off each other. It should make for one of the best Tourneys ever!

S-Class Re-cap:

Last week we all got together and raced the S-Class Championship. It was a relatively low turnout but the racing was good. It was a close field and we had some great races. Everyone was in top form and Racecar even managed his first clan podium. Wiggles and I battled it out at the top and I was just barely able to edge him out for another overall win in the S-Class. PootyPoo, after a long hiatus, showed up to race and did exceptionally well. He pulled out 4 podium finishes and locked up 3rd place overall. Apex had a good go at it but was the unfortunately victim of a wreck in almost every race. If there was a bad wreck you could bet he was somehow the unwilling participant. Despite his bad luck he laughed it off and still managed to take 4th overall for the night including 1 win and 3 podiums At the end of the night the final points standing looked like this...

Now, its on to the S7R Forza 4 R3-Class Tourney - Season 1. It's time to get to work and start building/tuning your R3-Class Cars. You have a little over one week to finalize things and get ready. This tourney will have a few RESTRICTIONS so pay attention. * No "numbered" race cars allowed. Cars must be built by the player themselves using standard road cars and upgrading them to the R3 Class. The Ferrari FXX is also banned from this event as well. While it is not "numbered", it is not a standard road car. If you have a question about whether a car is allowed or not please post up here and we will tell you.

The R3-Class cars are extremely fast and difficult to drive. Be sure to get in there and really work on these before the race. It's gonna be crazy out there. Victory favors the prepared. Good Luck!

The rules are pretty simple and as follows:

This is a Championship Tourney so the event will be 7 races.

Date: Thursday, June 21, 2012
Time: Racing starts at 8:30pm sharp Eastern Time
Car Class: R3-Class
Damage: Simulation
Collisions: Always On
Starting Grid: Random
Tracks: Random - Player based
# of Races: 7
# of Laps: TBD (depending on track length, races to last roughly 10 minutes each)

S7 Members ONLY!

The winner will be decided by points base on where you finish each track. The person with the most points will be the R3-Class Champion for Season 1. Your overall placement will go towards your season standing and results will be added to the Official S7 Forza Stats Thread. Forza: All Time Stats

* As this is the last event of the first season, we will also crown the Grand Champion for Season 1.

This is by far going to be the most difficult set of races for me. Hopefully I can make some of the Apex nights and possibly hit some public R3 rooms to try out my builds. Good luck to everyone and let's go out in style for the end of the season.

At the same time these high classes have the greatest potential for big upsets. I don't care how good you are at forza if there are 8 other people on the track and you're going 200mph you can easily wreck out and be done for the race.
My advice is focus on posting CLEAN lap times. Typically wrecks happen when people try to cut corners, pass to aggressively, etc. If you bide your time and race solid you'll place well.

Now if you want to win a race, you have to race solid and also know when to takes risks and be aggressive.

That's why I'll most likey sacrifice top speed for any other category. Typically I try to work my cars in the following order: handle, brake, accel, launch, top end. I sometimes mix the last two but the first don't change around too much because I want to have a car that handles well and recovers a bit better when I make mistakes.

My advice.... avoid Apex...

Cause I'll end up being the one crashing into him more than likely... although if you get a ways ahead of me, I probably won't be able to catch up to do any damage.

Also Wiggles, wtf is that one troll pokemon supposed to be to the left of 'Gaming' in your sig. It drives me crazy every time I see it. lol

If we can save some of the brutality till after the 1st turn it might be better. Also, at the advice of some fellow racers, don't expect me to be so polite going forward. If you want passed me find a way around, I'm not leaving the door open just because you "look" faster in a couple turns.

ahh ok... well the third one from the left still drives me crazy cause I don't know what the hell it's supposed to resemble. lol

Anyway, I hope I'll be able to attend the R3 tournament since I had connection troubles with the S class tournament.

Xpert, I think that's a haunter...

Apex, definitely don't just let people by. A big part of racing is being able to find a time to pass. The only time I would say let someone by is if they are lapping you.
Other than that, I'd honestly say do whatever you can to keep the people behind you behind you. If they get frustrated and wreck you out, that's their bad. If they really are faster than you they'll find a way to pass you.

I get a bit nervous when I see people behind me because I'm afraid that I'll unknowingly side swipe them as they pass me on a turn. My view is in the driver seat, so it's harder to tell where peoples may be around me. And then there are the momments where I don't see a turn coming up and I end up trashing someone's car because I'll be barrelling through at 120mph when everone else is taking the turn at 50mph lol.

PS: Haunter doesn't have arms... it has hands that float in front of him. That image is false. lol. Well at least I know now... it won't drive me as crazy...

Lol yeah to be fair they're all from memory and fast... in paint.

In forza, do you not use any race line?
Most of the clan has the braking line on, for just that reason. So no unexpected corners catch you off guard.

haha, yeah... I have the breaking line on, but I end up focusing on closing the distance of the person in front of me, and then I notice that I may be closing the gap a bit too quickly, and then I look at the map to see that there's a hairpin turn right there, and then there's a boom, and then a 'damnit xpert' lol

I thought it was already common knowledge to avoid me in races

I forget that a handful of you guys are like 10 years younger than me and that's why you know about Pokemon, because you were "those kids" that pissed me off screwing around with all the Pokemon stuff when I worked at Blockbuster back in the day.

Watched all 3 of them, He-Man and GI Joe daily. Dressed up as various GI Joe characters for halloween for most of my childhood.
