S7R Forza 4 C-Class Tourney - Season 1

The D-Class Tourney was a good one and I am sorry some of you had to miss it. It was a great Tourney with a wide variety of cars making an appearance. Only ten (10) people were able to make it so I am hoping we can get back to a 13+ field next week for the upcoming C-Class Tourney. It is always more fun with more people racing. I'd really love to see the lobby maxed out at 16 people. It would be truly epic and I hope we can get there.

Forza News -

This will be a bit abbreviated from the last few weeks. I am very short on time and a whole week has passed so my memory is a little fuzzy so bear with me. Still, the general theme is that we had another great Tourney. Due to some scheduling problems and technical difficulties we only had 10 people make the last Tourney. Fortunately, that is still more then we ever had in Forza 3 so it was still a great time with some great races. One thing I have really noticed from F3 to F4 is that the additional people really make a difference. Even at 10 people, starting at the back means you have a lot of catching up to do. Much more so than in F3 with only 8 people max. I know that I started in the back a few times last week and it took everything I had to even try and make a podium finish. Of course, the competition has also improved since last year too. Everyone seems to have really stepped up their game. Both old and new members alike. We have a lot of great talent here in S7 and these past few Tourneys have been the best we have ever had. Thanks to everyone who has been showing up and helping out.

Among those who have really stepped up include Atrum who deserves a special mention with his first ever 2nd place overall win and in doing so placed 1st place in 3 of the D-Class races and podiumed in several others. It was a impressive showing and I was only able to barely win out the overall 1st place by placing in 1 more podium finish than he did. It was a great effort, congratz! Finishing in 3rd was Wiggles with a solid showing but some bad luck with wrecks kept him from passing Atrum (and me) overall. Next was another solid finish from LiquidApex in 4th who is also consistently challenging the top players. Epic was in 5th followed by Bloodrusted (6th) and Racecar (7th). OC landed a solid 8th place finish beating out his main rival SockPuppet (9th) and Kenny (Dovahkiin). Kenny ending up taking 10th place overall due to dropping out of the Tourney a few races in (I think he went narco due to medication). *He did receive participation points for the races he missed.

Overall placement for the season is as follows:

We had a lot of shifts in the overall standings this week. Some because of good overall performance and some because they simply missed out on the last Tourney and therefore took 0 points from the event.

Now, its on to the S7R Forza 4 C-Class Tourney - Season 1. It's time to get to work and start building/tuning your C-Class Cars. Due to the delay in posting this thread, you will only have one (1) week to prepare. Drivers will have till Thursday, March 1st to build, tune and test their cars at which point we will meet up and see who has what it takes to win. Better get to work fellas!

The rules are pretty simple and as follows:

This is a Championship Tourney so the event will be 7 races.

Date: Thursday March 1, 2011
Time: Racing starts at 8:30pm sharp Eastern Time
Car Class: C-Class
Damage: Simulation
Collisions: Always On
Starting Grid: Random
Tracks: Random - Player based
# of Races: 7
# of Laps: TBD(depending on track length)

The winner will be decided by points base on where you finish each track. The person with the most points will be the D-Class Champion for Season 1. Your overall placement will go towards your season standing and results will be added to the Official S7 Forza Stats Thread. Forza: All Time Stats

That's a pretty ride OC. You better hope that I don't get a handle on my Impala cuz it's gonna eat your little car up if I do. I'm really looking forward to this tourney, we can finally put together some solid cars and get some speed going and races that have more laps and more chances for great racing.

Pretty excited for this tourney. I was struggling with getting a solid car built but I'm liking my lancie 037. That and my uber-fast car, the Aston Martin DBR1

She is a solid all around car. I am also messing around with a few high speed/acceleration cars. Right now my front runner is the 1967 Stingray but well see.

There's a possibility that my Impala will make an appearance. Following my complete rebuild it seems to be a bit more solid car and is able to beat my Soarer and Celica times on tracks with less turns, but it will probably be a backup car.

That RX-8 is nice, I might consider that myself. I had an RX-7 ready last tourney that I wish I'd have used instead. They're really good all-round cars.

I think that I've found a new primary car that I'm going to be using. It's doesn't necessarily have the best top end, but it's fast off the line and pretty solid when accelerating. The handling is great and it seems to work well on most any track with no adjustments to the base tune that I've put on it. I'm really looking forward to trying it out in the tourney.

I wouldn't be so sure about that Puppet....



While I wouldn't recommend pulling this out at a mini track... Sunset Club or something like that, it will work just fine

That is a sexy IROC paint on the Impala, I think I might just have to use it when I've got a track with some good straights. I'm guessing the gift is a paint for my beast so thanks in advance Wiggles!

That tune setup that actually is my fastest time on Sunset Club... about a half second faster than the car i plan on racing...

Nice looking cars Wiggles. I still don't feel 100% comfortable racing that RX-8 but I really haven't found anything better either. I usually get a feeling about a car and I just don't have that for this class.

I had the same issue for a while. Finally landed on the Lancia. Just feels good for me.

I appreciate that Impala Wiggles. It does pretty good on my new test track (Road Atlanta) and there's a good possibility that I'll run it on certain tracks but I'm definitely feeling this new car I've found.

I had a car I was keeping a secret. On paper it looked set to be very fast. 0-60 in less than 5s, 100 in 14.5, great breaking and about 0.97 G in handling...yet it's not competitive =( It might be ok on certain tracks but I'd rather just use one car for the entirety. Soooo, back to the drawing board...

The car was a VW Golk Mk2.

Kinda. I'm trying to keep it off the leaderboards by running laps on test drive to see how it stacks up. There's a couple tracks that I've been working on for hot laps so I know generally where I'll be when I put up a time. I'm pretty sure that there's been at least one other person that's looked at the car but I'd like to try and bring something to the table that might not be run by someone else. I don't think it will be super phenomenal but of the four or five cars that I have in my garage for this event this is the one that I feel most comfortable using in all tracks. Also, I've only started working on it over the past day or so so I haven't been in party chat while using it, so I don't think anyone knows anything about it.

Thats what it is all about Puppet what car iyou can make that you feel runs fast handles well but at the same time you feel comfortable in using and will make you competitive with your own best times.

It should be competitive and maybe I can get some middle of the pack finishes with it. My biggest concern would be that it is competitive and I have to deal with traffic, something that I'm not used to. I have, however, been practicing with the championships that have the 2 heats and 12 cars to get used to it.
