S7R Forza 4 R3-Class Tourney - Season 2

Well, this is it! Season 2 is coming to a close and we are down to the FINAL event of the season! It’s been a long ride but we are on the final straight now. Time to bury the hammer and let it rip! R3 here we come!!!

Last night’s S-Class Tourney was a blast! It was our smallest turnout this season but we still managed to have a great time. It’s a shame so many people missed out. S-Class is one of the best classes in the game. The cars are fast and the driving is intense. Apex made an appearance from Colorado Springs where he had to get creative with his internet connection to even show up. He was a little laggy all night but all in all it was trouble free. Xpert took a few turns to get used to how fast the S-Class cars could go and Atrum was actually stable all night. Let’s hope he can get a good connection for R3 too. It’s going to be insane.

Forza News -

S-Class Tourney was great! We had a great time, some close races and EPIC finishes. Apex was just barely able to show from his business trip out of town. He had to tap into the hotel highspeed (protip – Unless you are Brim, you can’t just plug your xbox into a regular phone line and get highspeed internet ) so he could show up and race. He had some lag issues but was still able to race without major incident all night. Atrum on the other hand actually had a good connection tonight for the first time in a long time. Not sure if it is because we connected to Xpert or something else. Either way it was nice to be able to race close and not worry about him exploding into my car. We had great racing like that all night (most of it was a little cleaner but still good). I managed to lock down first place and Apex lagged his way into 2nd place (and then lagged out of the final photo lol). Atrum took 3rd followed by Xpert and OC in 4th and 5th respectively. (Another protip – Try asking the guy in front of you to pull off for 10 seconds. You might be surprised to find he’ll do it. Ask Xpert lol)

The missing crew will lose serious points by not showing and shake up the overall standing. They also miss out on the prize drawing entry. Remember you get 1 entry for every event you attend and we will be drawing for the Season Prizes after the next Tourney (R3 Tourney). You do not have to be present to win but you don’t want to miss it. Going into the final event this is what we look like…

Here we go! I am proud to present the FINAL Event of the Season, the S7R Forza 4 R3-Class Tourney - Season 2. This is it. Your last chance to make a difference and shot at glory! We have finally arrived at the final even of the season. R3 is crazy and by far the hardest class we race in the regular season. The cars are powerful and hyper-fast. You really need to get in and mess with these cars if you have a chance. Otherwise you will be in for a heck of a surprise in two weeks. Drivers will have till Wednesday, January 30th to build, tune and test their cars at which point we will meet up and see who has what it takes to win. Get a solid car and start practicing those tracks!

NOTE: R3 cars MUST BE regular street cars that are upgraded to the R3 class. No stock R3 Racecars will be allowed for competition. If you are worried your car in not eligible just ask me or post up here and we’ll let you know if you are good to go.

The rules are pretty simple and as follows:

This is a Championship Tourney so the event will be 7 races.

Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Time: Racing starts at 9:30pm sharp Eastern Time
Car Class: R3-Class (street cars only)
Damage: Simulation
Collisions: Always On
Starting Grid: Random
Tracks: Random - Player based
# of Races: 7
# of Laps: TBD(depending on track length)

The winner will be decided by points base on where you finish each track. The person with the most points will be the F4 R3-Class Champion for Season 2.

*You will also earn points towards our Overall Season Standing.

Oddly enough once Baby patch 2.0 arrives my forza time will go WAY up since I like to play games I can pause with tiny ones around. Unfortunately that'll be right after this (probably) lol

Gotta check my schedule to see if I'll be able to make this one. Unfortunately, if I do I most likely will run something from last season because I won't have time to tune or learn the tracks.

Getting connected was indeed a tricky proposition. For the hotel I was staying at, there were no ethernet connections on the 4th floor. Only the 1st floor had been cabled out. So I take off to Best Buy Tuesday afternoon and snag a wirelessN adapter for the Xbox. Hooking it up was no biggie, pretty straight forward. Testing the connnection however was a different affair. Connect to the Hyatt.. no problem. Get on the internet? Denied. I logged into the laptop checked some workarounds, called the help desk, tried one of the wired connections downstairs... fail fail fail.

Last ditch effort of an old post on some advert layden "help" page talked about mac spoofing to connect.

So if you're traveling to a hotel use this method.

Connect any PC to the internet of the hotel, pay the fees, accept the EULA, whatever. Once the pc/laptop is connected get the MAC address and the hostname and write them down. THen shut off the pc/laptop.

Pilfer through the Xbox network settings and set the hostname to same as your pc/laptop. Then set the alternate MAC on the XBOX to that of your pc/laptop.

Plug in the cable or connect wirelessly. It should connnect to Live right away.

As for the S class events, I'd never been so nervous in my life on the track. Every car.. EVERY car was floating, bouncing, teleporting, riding below track level and sliding, flipping, rolling.. it was the ultimate minefield. A true test of patience and guess work. I'm absolutley shocked the network allowed me to stay connected to the race.... just nuts. I can't wait to get back to my home network. This hotel bandwidth is poop.

Cause I hosted the room, I'm cool like that. Apex on the other hand was all over the road, there was one point where his car literally drove through mine. I'd have to pull over somewhere to let him pass me because I couldn't tell if he was beside me, behind me, in front of me, above me, etc. Except on Hockenheim (?) (bad with track names) when I decided to take that one sharp turn backwards.

the first official night of my school starts the 30th... so count me out again... I was hoping for a surprise drop in (even for part of a tourney) this season... but Wednesdays are just a no go for me...

sh1t, I forgot that others may not have seen the movie yet.

uhg, I can't believe the tournament is already today. I started watching Bleach last weekend and I'm hooked and now this tournament is going to take away from my valuable Bleach-watching time!

How did this go? I had some family over and couldn't be on in time.

Almost seems like it never happened. lol. Well at least I know I got forth overall whether or not I missed the tournament. It sort of hit me at about 9:45 (central) last night that it was race night, but I figured it was a bit too late by then to join in.

Only 4 showed up to race interseptor Alex coolhand and myself. Good night good racing

(that is Coolhand driving OC's 458 so it looks like OC placed twice LOL!)

It was actually a lot of fun despite the lack of attendants. We had a ton of fun and some close races. Apex and I were tied right up to the final race and OC and Coolhand were also tied right up to the end. We had a blast and I am sorry so many of you missed out.

Overall it was a great season of racing. Hopefully we can get some interest built back up and push forward to Season 3. I had a great time this season and look forward to more racing. We are officially in the off season now so keep an eye out for fun off the wall events in the near future.

Congrats to the winners. I would have liked to finish out more of the tourney but sh*t happens. I look forward to the off season and maybe some LNS tourneys. I would love to see a multi-class, multi-race event possibly once things level out with the baby. Otherwise, there's always next season.
