PlayStation 4 gives up to 5.5GB of RAM to game developers
Well, so much for that argument also. I guess now the real stuff will finally start being revealed about the PS4.

Sony's internal docs say that 4.5GB is the baseline amount of guaranteed memory available for game-makers (note the memory usage of the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo) and most likely what the lion's share of launch titles will be using. However, other sources close to Sony indicate that developers can request up to an additional gigabyte of "flexible memory", and use it to boost elements of the game - but only if the background OS can spare it. We're told that incorporating this isn't trivial, and it may well be that to begin with only first-party developers target its usage.

Good stuff. Should be interesting to see how the actual throughput of the 2 systems compares. DDR5 vs DDR3 and eDRAM. Either way that's some impressive power for a console.

I just like to point stuff out like this because at work it's really slow and I have a LOT of time to browse lots of gaming forums, etc...and so many PS4 supporters laughed at MS for their "3GB for the OS" issue. Now they are faced with the same thing and they are making excuses for the PS4 saying "That's still plenty of RAM", etc. It's just funny to me.

the way i look at it 8gb of ram should be the standard by now .
but that is what all the xb1 haters did not understand they bashed one console and still really did not know about the other console
i read so many things says ps4 confirmed 32gb of ram (which would have been win but fail)
