New Playstation, no games.

The Xbox is rumored to have the same situation, as well as used game prohibition. Backward compatibility is expensive and used games are a hot issue right now. Time will tell.

well look at it this way next xbox is for sure coming out soon is a ps4 does!

the ps3 kind of does this now the only ps3 that can play ps2 games is the first gens

I think they are just toying with the idea to guage the outrage. Then again, if MS is more about getting into the living room as an entertainment hub, and less on a true game system, this could happen.

My big deal more than renting or the used, is what if you have multiple systems at the house, or kids/people with multiple accounts. Now everyone needs their own copy? That's BS.

Correct. (I happen to have one of the original PS3's BTW.) And the 360 is only compatible with a select number of original Xbox games too. It is not truly backwards compatible. Backwards compatibility is going the way of the Dodo. Last system with true BC was the PS2.

Half of me says 'this is freakin\' stupid', the other half says 'this is Steam'....I do think it is much worse for consoles though. Besides, Steam is always having sales and is a very good service. Sony on the other hand....

hold on ... wait.. the ps3 can play games! and the new ps4 can too!
just make the games on some kind a special memory card that only works on the console and you put a licence code in that lets you play it and if you buy it used then you have to buy another code for $10 bucks, no optical drive = less sound, more room for Graphics card, no optic drive crash, game discs will not get damaged, more memory for the game, faster game loads to what would be nice SSD

and FYI... Gamestop has already threatened not to carry the PS4...

i would not doubt this as im sure about 50% of there profit is in the used games

It's more like 85%, but whatever.

When you buy a used game it's all profit minus the sticker they put on the case.

I'm not sure if Ill get the next Gen console. I just love working on computers and when I get enough money I hope to make a top of the line computer for around 800-1000 bucks.

Definitely will not be top of the line. A top of the line processor costs that much.

Pro-tip: If you set yourself a budget, you're not getting a 'top of the line' PC.

Sucks that the new systems might not be top of the line. I expected them to be a bit off he mark but not as far as they seem to be rumored to be.

If the new consoles prohibit used games then I may just convert to being a PC gamer.
