Anime Discussion

My exposure to anime is limited. I have never seen an anime with subtitles, i've only seen english dub. Is there a difference between english dub and subtitled story lines? 

I watched the Ghost in the Shell Movie but haven't watch the TV series. 

I have read many of the Manga for Death Note. 

I will defiantly have to check out Attack on Titan. 

Is there more than one full metal alchemist anime series? I have seen about half of the Full metal alchemist series but I'm not sure if it's "brotherhood"

Full Metal has two series.  Brotherhood was the reboot with the full story line from the manga.  It's the better of the two and great overall.  And the only real difference in subtitled is that there is a lot more to choose from.  I watch a lot of current anime.  Almost all of that is subtitled and aside from some of the great classics, I tend to like current anime better.  There is a lot of English dub out there but most of it is at least a few years old.  Attack on Titan is a good example.  While English dub exists, I'm not sure where to find it.  Last I checked both Netflix and Crunchyroll only had subtitled versions available.

EDIT:  Also, if you get into subtitled, there are a lot more recommendations we can give.

I'm going to check out Attack on Titan and FullMetal:Brotherhood on netflix and see how i like them. That should keep me busy for a little while. 

When I finish/catch up on those I'm sure i'll need more recommendations.

Watched Kill la Kill over the weekend.  Was a bit odd to watch at first with the skimpy outfits and the semi-nakedness.  Overall ended up being a good watch.

Watched Trigun recently on Netflix and currently watching Soul Eater.  I wish the Crunchyroll app would release on Xbox One already.  I like being able to watch stuff on my 52" TV while eating and I'm running out of anime to watch on Netflix.

Also, Sword Art Online II got pretty epic in the last episode. Neat storyline antics.

Finished watching Blue Exorcist and Soul Eater on Netflix.  Looks like HxH is finished, but I'll have to wait on the last episode for a week since my Crunchyroll trial expired.  Part 2 of Attack on Titan Blu-Ray got delivered to me yesterday, so I'll probably be watching that.  The dub for Attack on Titan isn't bad, but I still prefer the sub.  I think I'll start up the new season of SAO next.

That'll probably be the only one I'd ask for.  Really want to finish HxH.  Don't really have anything else that I'd need membership access for before I sign up for membership myself, which I plan sign up when the app releases for XB1.

Mini Update:

Finished - Aldnoah Zero.  Pretty solid first series IMO.  Not a big Mech fan but I tend to like more of them lately.  This series had good animation, character and interesting story.  Action was cool and had a nice twist at the end.  No idea how Season 2 is gonna go based on the ending but I want to find out.  Good stuff here. - 8/10

Current on SAO 2.  I really like this season so far.  Much better than the 2nd half of the first season and I find myself watching the new episodes every week which is weird for me.

Catching up on - Irregular at Magic High School.  BEST. ANIME. EVER.  Ok, maybe not but it is awesome and Tatsuya is the sh1t.  He even has his own internet meme, religion and devout following.  Do an internet search for "One True Tatsuya" and bask in HIS glory.  Watch this anime!

Irregular is pretty awesome right? I was keeping up every week but decided to let it go until each mini-arc finished. Definitely a good show.

Also, SAO got epic last week. In a way it totally changed the show.

Done with HxH now.  Almost forgot to watch the final episode yesterday after adding that 48 hour guest pass.  Tuesdays will never be the same. lol.  Each episode is quality content, and I think that's pretty impressive for an anime that has 148 of them.  I'll probably watch through HxH again sometime soon.  Definitely in the top two of my favorite anime since I can't choose between Hunter x Hunter and Attack on Titan.

Just started HxH, it seems like there is lots of potential to see cool powers and techniques, but so far i haven't seen more than a very accurate fishing pole and some playing cards. lol

The guy with the grey hair seems like that quiet anime character that has super awesome powers but hasn't shown them yet. We'll see i plan on watching it all the way through either way.

I just finished SAO, its was pretty sweet i have to say. I would have liked more PVP in the show but it had a couple. I'm in to tournament series. DBZ, YuYu Hakoshu, Naruto, etc.

Are you aware SAO II is coming out now? You should enjoy that more.

HxH gets epic beyond reason in the 100s. It's finished now though (I expect some movies/ovas eventually).

I'm enjoying Akame Ga Kill. Pretty cool/fun/action packed series.

Honestly no, lol I didn't know what SAO was until a few days ago, I have the project at work that requires me sitting in the office all day watching something so i started back up in the anime thread to see what i should start watching. SAO was the first since it looked shorter, and then now Hx. i like the gaming references in SAO, those were great. 

Like i said in the beginning, i'm not a true anime fan, i can't seem to get in to it unless its dubbed. Except DBZ War of the Gods. That was worth it just cause its DBZ lol

SAOII might be dubbed somewhere but it's still currently airing this season so it might be hard to find.  It's worth the subbed version... cause SOAII.  Seriously, it's really good.

Yeah, SOAII switches it up to a mix of MMO and FPS Virtual worlds. Pretty epic stuff.

I've watched a few anime recently. 

No Game No Life.  Liked it, really enjoy seeing the strategies created by the main characters unfold. Sometimes the colors were a bit weird though.
Akame Ga Kill.  Cool, plenty of action.  Catches me by surprise at times.
Irregular at Magic High School.  The whole brother-sister thing going on is... well... strange. lol
Sword Art Online II - First arc of this season was awesome.  Was a little hesitant after watching the second arc of the first season, which I didn't like.

OK so I'm on episode 25 on Hunter X Hunter, i haven't seen any powers or anything like that. Just stick and swords. Is it coming up? lol

Oh trust us, it's coming. 
I think it's just before ep 30 that you catch your first glimpse. Then it just exponential curves from there.

Yeah that clown guys was glowing and that was the extent of what i've noticed so far, but i'll keep going lol too many people put it on their top 5 for me to ignore it

Yeah. You'll definitely enjoy it. I grew up loving DBZ. Enjoy other shonen animes. Naruto, Bleach, Yuyu Hakusho, etc. Anything with fighting and special powers I tend to enjoy (and everything else...). You'll enjoy HxH
