Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Well I tried to finagle my work schedule around both practice and race night this week. Unfortunately I'm getting pulled in for maintenance tonight that starts at 12 and ends at 5 am.... I will not be able to host the practice session.
This work stuff was supposed to be done for the year last night. WTH...

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I might be on kinda late, after like 11pm EST or tomorrow. I don't even know if I have an F-class still lying around but I could probably throw something together for this tourney.

Then I should definitely try and see if I have any E-class out there. Meh, easy to upgrade the Bug and Pinto, did it last season and they worked pretty well the first couple of classes.

The pinto is definitely a solid car for this class. In our HLS it's right up there with the elite times.S7 SockPuppet wrote:Then I should definitely try and see if I have any E-class out there. I was on for a little bit last night and I got side-tracked and completely forgot to get back on to attend the practice.

Yeah, Pinto is really versatile. Last season I built a speed kit and a handling kit and then if I remember right combined them and made one that was a little more hybrid. I never know if OC is going to go grip or speed so I like a mix to compete with whatever he brings to the table.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I'm on now and will be most of the night. I didn't like how my last car did in E class so I'm going to put more time into D class as I would like to compete for more than last place.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Practice night is tomorrow. But I'll most likely be on tonight. If you like, I can help you tweak your car some more.
Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I should be on for a bit tonight as well. Gotta tweak, tune and just generally drive my Esprit Turbo. She is more of a handling car than I normally drive so it should be interesting to see how it goes.

More than just manual too, go ahead and go man/clutch. It may seem like too much but it's really not. The trick is to swap the clutch with handbrake in the settings. Then to just 'fat finger' your shifts with A+B down and A+X up (normally it's just B down and X up). It's super easy will easily cut seconds off your time.

I didn't look at the manual/clutch setup but I race with a wheel and use the paddle shifters to shift. So going to clutch might not be as easy for me I don't have a clutch pedal.

It's funny cause I was looking at the leaderboards last night and thought about making one. I am racing Lotus this season after all. But I am pretty happy with my Esprit so bring it Husker. I am telling you all now, my Esprit is no joke. Show up tonight if you want a taste.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I'm just glad I can show up. I hadn't planned on it because I figured with prepping for my vacation and work being crazy that I wouldn't be able to get on. I got a lot more work done during the day today than I though I would so it's smooth sailing from here.

Remember, race time starts at 9pm (central). And I talked to Apex last night and he said he will be able to host tonight. Hope to see you guys there.

I should be on right around 8 (MST), so I'll see you guys there. I think Neight might be joining us as-well to see how things go racing with us.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Last nights open room went over pretty well other than that Yanko kid. Lots of good info was garnered which I'm sure we'll all digest and use over the next few weeks leading up to D Class.
I must have pulled out 7 different cars the night before. Just getting a feel for what was going to do the trick. None of them are it. It's going to end up being the Stratos. It's not crazy fast, it doesn't have superglue infused tires or a magical code from Turn10, but its mine and I feel pretty comfortable in it.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I thought my MX-5 was the one, and it still is very short/low speed tracks. It was very obvious that on anything with a decent straight that it was simply not viable. You can only make-up so much ground in the corners, and with my recent switch from Only TCS to no assists at all I still have a few times when the back tires slide out.
Looks like I'll be testing more cars.
