FYI - Apex does all his times in "Apex" time, which is Central. So 10pm eastern.

What Noob uses Central?!
In that case I could very well be on right at the start lol

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Central Time should be the standard as far as I'm concerned!

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Some good racing last night (except for my absence of braking at Catalunya, lol). Got to see just how bad my car choice was so I'll definitely be making a change. I'm not going to do very well in any races if I start in first and by the time we get to the first turn I'm in the middle of the pack because of my lack of acceleration.

I need to intall different parts on my car and find some more cars to test. My acceleration and speed seemed to be getting beat by everyone on the track. I'm pretty bad at tuning. XD

It's pretty interesting seeing which cars perform great. Being able to post a good lap time ends up being only a minor part of it. (Sure, if your car is 3sec/lap slower you're SOL) then comes your racing strategy. Do you want to try to take it in the turns? Recover lost ground on the big straights? Jump out fast and gain ground each corner exit?

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
In general, for racing with the public, I find that a car with good launch and accel is better all around. Sure you can hotlap faster in a good handling car but its hard to win a race if you have to pass everyone clean in 5 laps.
But it's a lot easier to make up ground from a mistake if you have a faster car. Now you can't sacrifice too much handling but I would look at quick cars that handle OK. My 2 cents.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I try to make mine handle/brake as good as possible while still staying somewhat close on accel. I definitely agree that those fast launch cars have an advantage. I just enjoy hitting the brakes 30 feet later and making those passes in corners.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Glad I got some practice in to see how bad my car was on any track with a straight longer than 100 feet. Definitely have some work to do.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I'm thinking you'll only need some minor tweaks. You've got more grip than you do speed. A small part trade shouldn't take too long to work out.OneBadHuskerFan wrote:Glad I got some practice in to see how bad my car was on any track with a straight longer than 100 feet. Re: Apex Open Track Nights
Yeah, I think I'll need to fix up a car that focuses more on speed for tracks with mostly straights like Le Mans. My Lotus Elan will likely be my all-round car

Might run a little tonight or Thursday during the day, but I might just end up playing COD league.

Practice is Wed, but I work second shift so I might run a little tonight. More likely though I'll play COD or something else.

Re: Apex Open Track Nights
I haven't got in as much practice as I would like so I plan to be on tonight around 8ish and see how long I can stay on till. I still need to narrow down my car choice a bit and hopefully pick my best option tonight so I am ready for race night. Anyone who is on early hit me up and we can try to get some racing in.

I might be on a little earlier today to get some more practice using manual with clutch and to tune a car which focuses on speed.
