New Headset?

I'm actually taking the Tritton's back and getting the x42. After playing with the Tritton's they started hurting my ears. The ear cups are way to small for the average ear.

I've had the same problem with other headsets. My x12's fit great and I definitely don't have a small head.

I actually picked up the X32's. Pairing seems to be a big issue.

How big of a difference/advantage is there between stereo and surround headphones? And overall, how big is the difference between playing on a headset vs playing over speakers?

Headphones make a huge difference for hearing enemy footsteps and equipment. I can't say really how stereo ranks against surround, bit good headphones are a solid investment. Mine have helped me improve and have increased my enjoyment of FPS's.

I've played with headphones for a long time, and even the Stereo is a big improvement. I do think the surround is a bit better, but the stereo is still better than the TV speakers.

There's nothing better than rolling into a horde of noobs with a death machine and mowing them down, than doing it with a good headset. There's the whine as the mini gun winds up. Then the sputter as it slings hot lead at your opponents. Lastly, there's the tink, tink, tink of the shell casings raining to the ground as the gun winds down. That's one of the reasons why a headset is better. Yeah you can hear that with a bitchin tv and surround sound but with a headset you almost smell the burning gunpowder and searing flesh.
