Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
The Witcher 2 is a game for adults, and not just because of all the sex and violence. It expects you to be intelligent and interested, to care about the political machinations, racial tensions and complex history of its world. Plenty of games shield you from their lore, afraid that it might scare you off. The Witcher 2 drops you right in the thick of it, and expects you to deal with it.
This is an ambitious and absorbing game that’s not just superficially “adult”, but genuinely mature.
That's awesome to see. I couldn't care less about the sex or nudity in a video game (although done properly it can mean something to the story line), but if they approach other themes that "grown ups" actually can take their time to engage in I'm all for that.

I finally saw a commercial for this and it looks like a solid game. Might possibly look at picking it up later in the summer but right now my plate is full. Post up some first impressions and reviews when you guys get going on it.

One of the things I love about gamefly is that as soon as a game is out it's considered used even if you're the one that gets it first. I'll be getting Witcher 2 today but the price for it if I want to keep it is already only $47.49.

Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Well I never really watched the videos to much when you first posted them. I saw the first few trailers but not the more in depth videos and I really like what I see and the details you guys have posted I may go pick this up today. I was going to wait and get it when I needed a new game but now I want to play this the more I see and hear about it. The Ghost recon demo comes out this week and I want to give that most of my gaming attention while it is out. So confused.......

In my opinion it is WELL worth it.
On topic: Witcher 2 has 36 critic reviews on Metacritic.com and it's score is a 90/100. Not bad at all.

Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Played for a little less than 2 hours last night and while that's not much at all one thing REALLY annoys me about the game. That is the inability to control the x and y sensitivity on the camera. It's WAY too sensitive for me and I didn't see any way in the options to remedy that. If I can't get that changed then this game may go back to gamefly a lot sooner than I originally thought. It really is that bad to me.

I'm really hoping that it's just me being an idiot and not being able to find the option to set the sensitivity, but I can't imagine that being the case. I mean yeah I can be an idiot sometimes, lol, but the interface is pretty rudimentary and I just can't see me missing that setting.

Possibly something that was overlooked when the game was "ported" to the Xbox?

I don't think so. I did a little research and apparently it was a problem on the PC version too. At least with the 360 controller. Also some problems with inversion. The only solution I saw online was to mess with the code. Copy and paste a new line or two. Relatively easy to do on the PC. Not so much on the 360. Still don't have my copy so I can't say for sure. Some people have complained about it and others seem fine with it. I guess I will have to wait and see. Maybe it won't bother me.

Yeah, may just come down to personal preference. For me, if there isn't a way to change it, then it's back to gamefly.

Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
I would probably prefer a sensitivity too high than too low. Can't stand when it takes forever to turn in a game. Hoping to play this soon.

So can you invert the Y axis? If not, I will not be getting it either

Yes, you can invert it. My issue is with the sensitivity...meaning the camera moves around way too fast and is too touchy for me.

Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
I got it yesterday but due to Forza public racing night I didn't really get to play expect the first tutorial stuff. Plus, it was so late I think I am going to replay the beginning (I was too tired to pay attention). That said, I really liked what I got to mess with. Unfortunately I could not find an adjustment for the camera sensitivity and I don't think there is one. Personally it didn't really bother me but it definitely is a little on the quick side. I'll do a more in depth write up once I get to really put some time in this weekend.

I am actually writing it up right now. I finally got to play over the weekend. The write-up is longer than expected and will be posted in it's own thread. I'll have it up soon.

Broke down and ordered a copy of this from the Toys R Us deal, should be getting it within the next week. Looks pretty good and for $35, you can't beat that.

Re: Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
So, my copy is en route. Currently it's in Groveport, OH and the last info I had was delivery between Monday and Thursday. I'd guess it will probably be closer to Tuesday or Wednesday, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
BUMP: Reread my tracking email and it looks like the estimated delivery date is Tuesday May 1st. Probably won't get to play it any until later in the week due to work but I'm pretty stoked that it should be here soon.

Sweet, my copy came today, but it will still be a couple days before I get to it. I'll post up some thoughts after I get a chance to play some.
