Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
you talked about the short cable. How far does the wired cable reach? (If I went wired instead of wireless)

Well, theheadset alone is about 3ft long. So, that's plenty when you're using it with the mixamp because the mixamp cable is about 3m. So that's near enough 4m of reach. Doesn't sound a lot but i've just had a look at how far back from the TV I can go and the length seems to be plenty. In truth, I always sit close to the TV for gaming.
Just a little update on the comfiness of these things. I've been on a monster essay tear and out of the last 28 hours, i've been wearing these for about 22/23 of those. I've never gotten hot, my ears have never hurt or felt uncomfortable. I'll be wearing for a fair few more hours yet too, so far, they've not caused any discomfort. In fact, even when i've not got any music on, I keep them on my head.
So yeah, comfort = 10/10

What do you mean by mixamp? Are you talking about Astros mixamp?
My question regarding cable length and what not are since I sit about 6-8ft from my TV and xbox... so will this cord be long enough?

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
The mixamp I was referring to in the last post was the SteelSeries one that comes with the headet and plugs into the controller.
Yup, the cable is about 12/13ft, so it should be plenty long enough.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
I got mine today very nice. One thing I was not expecting is I can't plug it into my new razer onza because it just has the single plug like the bottom of the chat pad. The head sets have the plug for the original control with a nodule on each side of the headphone plug. a but fail but I can live with it.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
Yeah, mine doesn't fit into my 360 wheel.
Kind of a fail on SS and Razer's part though tbh as i'm sure the SS mixamp isn't the only accessory with the two support prong things. Kinda sucks as I wanted to get the tournament Onza. Guess you could always file them down?

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
I seriously doubt those plastic bits do anything other than support the mixamp but I can't guarantee it. An adapter would definitely be the safer choice.

Anyone know what size that hole is. It is smaller than a regular head phone jack

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
Yeah I may just have to try it out but I'm not sure is the mix amp with be to heavy if I make it "inline" like that with the extention. I don't want it to pull out of the controller in use.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
Well that did not work as planed because the Steel series mix puck has a rounded area and the adaptor will not fit down into it. I am going to have to try and file down the adaptor to fit into the smaller area were the 2.5 jack is on the mix amp thingy

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
Could always get a female to male 2.5mm adapter. basically would extend the plug so it would just fit into the onza. There would be a little signal degredation but just 1 shouldnt be bad. They're like $2 so no harm trying.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
looking at headsets again and it occurred to me that I could buy the 5xB's and the Astro 5.8 wireless mixamp for about $200.00 total and still receive the wireless solution I am looking for. As well as avoid the problems with the Steelseries mixamp OC mentioned. Very intriguing. I wonder how the 5xB's compare to the a40's if both are using the 5.8 mixamp? OC how do you like the quality and sound of the 5xB's so far?

Yea they are made very well, very comfortable. Sound is good I don't have much to compare to as far as head sets go but I do Like them.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
If you're getting the Mixamp you can use any PC headset too, so there'd be plenty of choice but value wise, I think the 5xB top the category.
But yeah, very happy with my 5xB's. Stupidly comfortable. From the moment I got them I was wearing them about 18-20 hours a day. Never once found them uncomfortable.

Re: SteelSeries 5xB Headset
I am not so much worried about the wireless part as much as I just want to use but Razer Onza controller with them. So it may be a solution worth looking into for me.
