Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
All of my homework is done!!! I was going to go to bed early tonight and hopefully catch up on the sleep I've missed in the past three weeks, but Zenonia 2 just hit the App Store and I've been playing it all night
Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
BOW DOWN TO YOUR NEW OVERLORD MORTALS. BOW DOWN AND BEG FOR EXISTENCE AS I HAVE COME TO RAIN MY VENGEANCE DOWN UPON YOU ALL.
Edit: oh, and spring break has started this week. cool beans.
AND WHEN MY TAINTED SPIRIT FINDS ITS DESTINATION, I WILL TOPPLE THE MASTER OF THAT DARK PLACE. FROM MY BLACK THRONE I WILL LASH TOGETHER A MACHINE OF BONE AND BLOOD, AND FUELED BY MY HATRED FOR YOU THIS FEAR ENGINE WILL BORE A HOLE BETWEEN THIS WORLD AND THAT ONE, WHEN IT BEGINS YOU WILL HEAR TH SOUND OF CHILDREN SCREAMING - AS THOUGH FROM A GREAT DISTANCE. A SMOKING ORB OF NOTHING WILL GROW ABOVE YOUR BED, AND FROM IT WILL EMERGE A THOUSAND STARVING CROWS. AS I SLIP THROUGH THE WIDENING MAW IN MY NEW FORM YOU WILL CATCH ONLY A GLIMPSE OF MY RADIANCE BEFORE YOU ARE INCINERATED. THEN, AS TEARS OF BUBBLING PITCH STREAM DOWN MY FACE, MY DARK WORK WILL BEGIN. I WILL OPEN ONE OF MY SIX MOUTHS AND I WILL SING THE SONG THAT ENDS THE EARTH.
edit 2: god d@mn, f#ck this i'm going to sleep. i'm blown the f#ck out.

Up playing Zenonia 2 again. Pick it up for sure if you have an iPhone/iTouch!
Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
Reading the original "Alice in Wonderland". I don't have the money to go buy a new book from the bookstore right now, but I will friday. Hope to finish this by then. Will pick up the first book in a series called "The Dresden Fiiles" by Jim Butcher called "Storm Front". I don't know if I'll like it or not, but I'll give it a flip through while I'm there at the store. If it doesn't catch me I'm likely to purchase another Neil Gaiman novel instead, since I finished Neverwhere not too long ago. In that case i'm stuck between "American Gods" or "Anasasi Boys"

if you like fantasy at all, try The way of shadows, part of a 3 book trilogy called the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. And no, it has nothing to do with angels. Its quite violent and graphic actually. But, best d@mn story I have read in a while.
New york Bestseller for a god d@mn reason!!!

I'm actually barred from the libraries of the community college system here. Well, not from walking in, but form checking out any books.
And I prefer to buy my books. I'm working toward filling out a furniture fixture with books that I plan to build when I own my own home.

How did you get barred from checking out books? You 'ruin' a few of their exotic selection.

I recommend Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Will definitely make you think whether you agree with the theme or not.

Risque? How so? Afterall, there are no pictures and the themes revolve around rationally valuing one's own contributions to social and economic relationships. I guess it is an old book (50's?) but I just recently discovered it.S7 Zero wrote:that's a very risque book to suggest coolhand.

Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
Wow! That's some pretty heavy reading for a highschooler - well at least for my public school. We only read garbage and non-relevant stuff it felt like. I remember once in 9th or 10th we were to choose a "classic" from a list the teacher had prepared, or chose another classic not on the list. The Hobbit was on the list, but I had read it. I had just finished Fellowship so I suggested my report be over The Two Towers. She said that wasn't a classic. Sacrilege! Anyway that was a tangent.S7 Vision67 wrote:S7 Coolhand wrote:Risque? I recently enjoyed Memnoc the Devil by Ann Rice - I don't generally dig the vampire stuff but some of hers are good (some I feel are really boring). That one had an interesting fictional take on Jesus and the Stations of the Cross, as well as limbo and hell.

Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
I've stayed away from Ann Rice. I dig supernatural and darkworldly stuff, but I MUCH prefer it when in conjunction with wizardry or when mixed with 'real world' urban environments (AKA Neil Gaiman).
Plus Vampiric sex is... stupid.
In 10th grade (maybe it was 9th? Definitely early high school), I came across the sole unabridged copy of Les Miserables in the school library. that freakin' thing took me months to read. To this day I remember that it was 1400 pages, and each page was super thin, enclosed in a 4 inch black tome.
I also read Ivanhoe, which wasn't a difficult read, but I dug the medieval theme and it was funny at times. Wasn't on the school curriculum.
I remember friends of mine reading the Wheel of Time series. They are up to 13 books now I think. I wonder if it is any good.
Edit: On the note of Tolkein, I think I have a copy of the Silmarillion, and I've tried to read it, but I end up reading something else before long.

Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
450am. I had my sleep schedule reset, then I fucked it up again tuesday night when I fell asleep during BC2 practice. Now I'm back to going to sleep at 630 or so.
And I haven't even used this time efficiently. I could have finished my book by now, but instead I'm watching movies.
I played a little bit of DnD Online, the MMO. It's free to play, and my sister plays it every so often so I wanted to see whats up with it. Its actually surprisingly not THAT bad for a free to play. Sure as f#ck its not WoW, but I can dig it. I might only play it when my sister is playing it, since you actually get a penalty for XP when you solo (-20%).
Gonna finish my movie now and head to bed. Tonight I'm going to bake a pizza using This recipe. Got a friend coming over friday night to play some Arkham Horror with me and my sister, and I'll be baking a veg pizza since my friend doesn't eat much meat, so I gotta get some practice in today.

DDO eh? I'm on Orien Server, user Name Tazuna. He's a 5th lvl fighter using dual bastard swords. Made him after my level 34 character in D&D named Tazuna. Too bad DDO would not let me make a 34th level character with a divine rank of 9 .

Re: The Official Insomniac Thread
Les Miserables - great movie with Liam Neeson, but never read the book so I'm probably missing out on a lot of the story.
You may like The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas. All the movies don't cover half of what is in the book. I found this one to be a real page-turner. Disney butchered the original story really with their Chris O'Donnel movie.
A friend I sat with on the bus in junior high used to read the Wheel of Time books and he had nothing but praise for those. I had forgotten about them.
I listened to books on CD of the Silmarillion. Interesting stuff, but I'm glad I didn't try to read it - seems like it would work as well as ambien for insomnia.
