The Official Black Ops Unix Terminal Thread
Epic, Klown:
This terminal has got me very very curious.
It gives us the commands to encode and decode strings "using an agency standard cypher", as well as login one of the other users (which are important historical figures no less), and check their mail (presumably) as well as log into REMOTE SYSTEMS. Wtf?
I've poked around all the files in the amason directory, and all I can say is that his new password as per amason mail [0] which references the new password system, should be changed to "someone's name that was close to him, followed by the date of something (like a 'big award') that he received". A few mails down (I think mail [4]?) he gets a letter from a guy saying that Mason won a contest in '53.
So now we have the number of the password, but not the name of the person he cares about. I'm going to guess it's his mom, but I can't find her name anywhere in the files. Neither his dad nor his sister's .txts mention her name.
Why this all matters I'm still not entirely sure, since when you exit Mason's login and try to log back in, his username and password are the same: amason//password
Now for the other user profiles on the system:
None of them can be accessed from the amason username EXCEPT for two: jehoover and hkissinger. J Edgar Hoover I remember was the head of the FBI during the time period black ops takes place. Henry Kissinger was I think the secretary of state under Nixon, and I remember him being big with Mao with the whole Ping Pong Diplomacy thing.
When you try to cd into these directories, nothing pops up under ls. You have to cd .. back out to the /home/ to view the other profiles.
To everyone else: Have you seen anything in game that resembles something like a username/password combo? I'm going to go through the campaign myself to see if I can get anymore information on this system, since I haven't been able to find ANYTHING online.
Too bad you can't program in the terminal, or else people would be creating their own exploits to break into the system

Wow, owned. I can't edit my posts in this forum. I think we have a permission fail here. Miller or OC, or Klown, can you fix that?
In the amason directory two random literary entries:
Ozymandia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozymandias
Macbeth "Is this a dagger" Soliloquy:

In the amason directory two random literary entries:
Ozymandia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Macbeth "Is this a dagger" Soliloquy:
http://www.shakespeare-navigators.com/macbeth/T21.html (Line 33)
Is this a dagger which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? or art thou but
A dagger of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?
I see thee yet, in form as palpable
As this which now I draw.
Thou marshall'st me the way that I was going;
And such an instrument I was to use.
Mine eyes are made the fools o' the other senses,
Or else worth all the rest; I see thee still,
And on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood,
Which was not so before. There's no such thing:
It is the bloody business which informs
Thus to mine eyes. Now o'er the one halfworld
Nature seems dead, and wicked dreams abuse
The curtain'd sleep; witchcraft celebrates
Pale Hecate's offerings, and wither'd murder,
Alarum'd by his sentinel, the wolf,
Whose howl's his watch, thus with his stealthy pace.
With Tarquin's ravishing strides, towards his design
Moves like a ghost. Thou sure and firm-set earth,
Hear not my steps, which way they walk, for fear
Thy very stones prate of my whereabout,
And take the present horror from the time,
Which now suits with it. Whiles I threat, he lives:
Words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives.
[bell rings]
I go, and it is done; the bell invites me.
Hear it not, Duncan; for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or to hell.

Re: The Official Black Ops Unix Terminal Thread
If you exit out to the top level directory, then enter the /bin folder, you can see all the programs that are installed on the system.
type in "alicia" at any time and it will give you a "virtual therapist" which is a bot that fails the turing test
type in "hello" and it says "common expression are 'hello dad' 'hello nurse' and 'hello sailor'
typing in 'hello sailor' will load up zork!
you can also use a 'print' command, and a 'type', but I haven't found any use for those yet.

Re: The Official Black Ops Unix Terminal Thread
Type "dir" and hit enter. Then type "doa" and hit enter....
Dead Ops will then load and play. It is the third zombie map (concidered an Easter egg). Once unlocked you can then play it co-op in "zombie" mode, up to 4-players. (it's a top down twin-stick shooter, very fun).

You can also type "dir" (hit enter) and then type "Zorg" and Zorg will play that way too.
