Re: Dragon Age
On the 360 games (DA, DA2, DA: Origins & all DLC) I put in close to 150-200 hrs on multiple characters.
The series is great in that it's a solid RPG that has multiple customization options and a lot of content, including a deep relationship system with the various NPCs you can adventure with. The system is similar to that in the Mass Effect series and the decisions you make in one game follow to the next (if you choose to load the data from past games).
My biggest issue with the series was that the dungeons and caves were cookie cutter and just had different skins put on them. It got to the point where I could almost turn up the sound, close my eyes and clear the dungeons by sound alone.
Supposedly, the dungeon system should be fixed in Inquisition, so that's a plus. Also, the story line continues and you can enter in your past choices and past relationships so the game can follow how your characters left it when you were done on the 360. Also, the graphics will be better.
All things considered, I'm not 100% on this game, but since I don't want to pay for an ESO sub, I'd like a good RPG for the PS4, and I like that I can pick up where I left off, I just might pick this up. Of course, I may just get Witcher 3 for an RPG fix.

Re: Dragon Age
Puppet said it well. The problems he notes with the overuse of dungeon layouts was more a problem in 2 than it was in Origins. The story line and character interactions are what make the game special. The loot system is great, and I really like customizing my character's tactics they use when I'm not actively controling them. I thoroughly beat Origins three times on Xbox, played most of the DLC, beat the Awakening campaign, and beat 2 once. I'm now replaying Origins on the PC.
I definitely want to play Inquisition, but I'm not sold on the MP aspect as being something that will stay fresh - get it for the SP.

Re: Dragon Age
I'm not considering the MP in my decision to buy or skip this, it would just be an added bonus. And Luke is right, it's nice to gear up your NPCs and figure out how they'll work when you're not controlling them.

This is the kind of thoughts/info I wanted to hear from people I know. How's the relationship system, is it as good as it left off with on the previous games?S7 Sticky wrote:im 29 hours into it and not even close to finishing it

Re: Dragon Age
I spent about 3 hours playing the game last night and not once did I even go out to fight anything. It was all spent in dialog with multiple people and learning more about who they are and what makes them tick. The amount of dialog in this game is ridiculously awesome and you can spend hours and hours just doing that. You also get extra missions/etc. by talking through dialogue options with others.
I'm sure you can advance through the story much quicker than I have, but in a game like this I want to know everything about everybody and get into everything I possibly can. I want my first playthrough to be as thorough as I can. I have about 40-50 hours in already and have just scratched the surface of what is yet to come.

Only 63 hours? I'm well over that so far and still have a ways to go. I am, however, doing every side quest, collecting as much as I can and spending a lot of time in dialog. This game is amazing still, even after having played it for so long.

Yeah, same here. Makes me wonder what I've been doing that's taking me so much longer than the 60+ hours you played, lol. I'm still just at level 17 and have like 3 full regions to go to yet!

Girlfriend just brought this over last night. It is going to be tough to put it down for the clan war - so far it looks badass.

Just when you start thinking it's getting boring is when it starts getting better. The depth is pretty amazing if you really play through everything there is to offer.

Re: Dragon Age
Finally finished up this game and I wish there was more! (Even though there's TONS).
I can't tell you enough about how much of this game you will miss if you don't give it a full playthrough and not just focus on the main storyline. In the end I probably put 150'ish hours into it (Sad, I know) and could have easily beaten it in 50-60, probably even less if just playing the main story as quickly as possible.
The main story was awesome, but I loved doing all the side questing, building up relationships with followers and getting into much of the lore that you'd never see if you didn't do a full playthrough.
I even managed to get 45/50 achievements, which for me is pretty crazy. I don't even pay attention to what I need to do for achievements for the most part so that's pretty cool. Somehow I missed a few things here and there (probably just wasn't paying attention).
Overall this is the best game I've played on the Xbox One so far and it's not even close. Maybe it's just my type of game, but I enjoyed the hell out of it and would recommend it to anybody even remotely interested in it to give it a go. I'd even say that if you are interested then it would be a good idea to buy it because if you want to get the most out of the game you'll need A LOT of time.
I'll go back again at some point and do a another playthrough with a Mage class (was Elf Archer this time), but for now I have to bid adieu to Dragon Age: Inquisition. I have Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4 calling out for me now.
Also, if you do beat the game make sure to not skip the credits. There is a possibly important short cinematic scene after them.

Good info there Husker. Sounds like you play DA the same way I do. I'll have to remember when I pick this up to be ready to set aside all my gaming time to it.

Re: Dragon Age
I've put about 55 hours in and am only like level 9 - just barely scratched the surface. I am playing it on nightmare mode so it is taking longer - quite a bit of fail then reattempt or do something else first. I'm liking the challenge it is giving me for sure. The tactical overhead thing is great, but I wish I could program the AI like in Origins with the combat techniques.
