So you're level 15+, have you switched your subclass?

Yes, you can switch subclasses on the fly.  It does take quite a while to level up subclasses though.  I'm at level 23 and am still not finished with the first subclass yet and I'm making a push to just get that leveled before I switch.  It might just be me, but I can't stand not having it leveled completely before starting the other, lol.

I played a little bit with trying to start working on Sunsinger but I'm only halfway thru lvl 15 so I'm not far enough for it to really matter. Zak says he prefers Voidwalker, and I usually like his builds, but I'm wondering if it will be necessary or highly useful to be working on both for both level strikes. Might just hold off on Sunsinger and use it when I make another character.

After reading up more on the Sunsinger I may just have to make the switch earlier than expect.  Seems that 90% of people I've seen using Warlock love the Sunsinger class over the Voidwalker.

I'll still probably max out Voidwalker before starting Sunsinger on this char.

Yeah, after playing a bit longer, I love the Sunsinger.
