headphone chat problem
When I got on Tuesday I could no longer be heard through my headset. I can hear other people just fine, but the only way for me to be heard is to disconnect the adapter and talk through Kinect. This works but makes me sound sh1tty (shittier than normal). I'm running the XP500 with my hacked adapter - this is the first issue I've had. Any ideas?

Re: headphone chat problem
Sounds like the problem I had with my old X41s on the 360 when my chat cable was bad. I ended up having to replace my cable. Not exactly sure how the XP500 hack works with the XB1, on the PS4 I just use a chat cable.

Or a PS4, the XP500 adaptor cable is $7 and it works like a charm, just that pesky $400 for the console.

Re: headphone chat problem
Seriously, though, I'm not familiar with the adaptor hack, is that the one Matt talked about a while ago where you solder some part of the headset? If so, could be a issue with the soldering. Also, is it possible to use a chat cable like on the PS4? I know it's not preferred when you could go wireless but that could be a possibility.
Also, did you double check all the audio settings on the XB1 to make sure something didn't get changed accidentally or reset with a system update or something.

Thank you for your concern, but no thank you. You don't have the console nor the experience to assist.S7 SockPuppet wrote:Seriously, though, I'm not familiar with the adaptor hack, is that the one Matt talked about a while ago where you solder some part of the headset? Re: headphone chat problem
Have you tried re doing the solder job
post up some pic's mybe if people can see the job they can point out the problem
agreed that it could be a lose wire or something is blocking the wire from the port on the board or the whole wire could have gone bad, those stock headset are cheaply made
sucks to say but if you cant trouble shoot it might need to redo the whole thing over again .
i have my stock headset that came with my xb1 if you need another cable im not using it as im using my x41's
either way hope you fix the issue but heck the kinect chat last night worked out ok and you came across clear plus side to having a kinect i guess on top of all the other reason im happy the release xb1 with one in the box

Re: headphone chat problem
Honestly, the Kinect chat works just fine and isn;t an issue if you don't have anyone else in the room.
One thing I was going to ask, is if you actually tried your headset with your phone or something else. It could be the mic on the headset and nothing to do with the Xbox or cable.

Re: headphone chat problem
Great tip Matt - the mic works for phone calls, so that means the problem is in the cable or adapter. I think one of my cats may have chewed on the wire, so I'll try cutting and splicing that section.
Thanks for the info and offer Sticky - I'll let you know.
The Kinect mic has been handy but only seems to work for party chat. Can't really play straight-up S&D or Extinction with randoms.

...new chat cable. They sell the TB chat cables at Target for like $10 or $15 (at least they are at my local Target).

Re: headphone chat problem
Yep, one wire has come loose. Not sure if I can fix it due to all the hot glue on there. It will be a challenge.

Re: headphone chat problem
At what point would you give up the chase and pick up a new adapter? I ask this out of pure curiosity.
Re: headphone chat problem
Funny you should ask, but around 1:30 last night I gave up. I can't believe I managed to solder that the first time. It's just too tough and not worth it - I'll pay $25 after work today for a new adapter instead.

Re: headphone chat problem
Tape everything down and make sure the wire and contact is hot too, and not only the solder. They are really tiny points, and I hadn't soldered in a few years, so I was surprised I was able to get it too.
