Developers Explain Appeal of PS4

haha PS wins so much when it comes to that.  I remember wanting to get a game off the PS store onto my PSP but it was freakin down FOREVER.  By the time it came back up I wasnt interested anymore

But was my PS3 bricked?  Nope.  IF it happens, the XTV will.  And yeah, Launches of new titles always go super smooth for M$.  lol.  And none of the current titles require online connection and they still crash the servers.

Yeah... because Sony has such a good rep with staying online. If we're going down that road watch them get hacked and be down for ANOTHER month or two.

Guess that could happen.  Still have a fully working PS4, minus the network.  What happens if XTV gets hacked and goes down for a month or two?  Hmmm, oh right, bricked consoles.  But it cool cause you guy can still watch TV and movies.

Thankfully they don't have a track record of getting pwned by hackers.

Only cause the hackers didn't want to target them.  You know as well as I do that XBL could have been hacked just as easily as the PSN.  Nothing is secure.  Sony was the target and that is that.  Now who do you think is the more likely target in the next gen?  Friendly sharing PS4 or DRM riddled XTV?  Hackers especially love DRM right?

That is a good point.  However should we change out of fear?  Isnt that how the terrorists win?

I didn't change out of fear.  Just offering a counterpoint to Atrum.  That is usually how a conversation works.  But this thread has gotten way out of control anyway.  The point I was making is that the PS4 is easier to publish for as an indie game developer.  That fact still remains and while some of you don't seem to care about indie games, I do.  And I appreciate the fact they are coming to the PS4 first, if not permanently.

Unfortunately I don't know enough (yet) about network and software security to know how the breach happened. From what I've read Sony got hacked because they sued a guy for releasing an exploit to let users unlock games and trophies. A hacktivist group got angry by the way the handled it and we all know what happened.

So I don't think DRM policies have anything to do with it.

EDIT: I haven't been keeping up on indie game policies from each but if XBO isn't letting people go through the same process they did on the Xbox 360, it would be a good move for the PS4 to make it easier to get approved and upload games.

They are not.  XBL has an indie section now but they are changing policy moving to the XTV, as I understand it.  Self publishing on the PS4 is a big deal for indie developers.

No more "I made a game with zombiez in it" for me on Xbox then lol.

Luckily I'll have both consoles fairly close to launch (unless the PS4 has some ridiculous issues at launch), so I'll just be buying whatever games look good.

Sounds like PS will take over the indie market then.  I still exoect many more AAA exclusives for XB1 due to the DRM.

I will also be buying both consoles.  As a true gamer it's unavoidable.  Just not sure how long until I get the XTV.  Probably not until some killer exclusives launch tho.  Most of the games I want are multi-platform so there is no reason to own both until for great exclusives are actually out and available.

It might. But then I would require some money.  Sadly, that is not likely.  At least until Income tax comes in.  That is the earliest I see myself getting one.
