I am able to log in today, but since I have to go to work soon, I'm going to have to wait just a little bit longer until I play.

Didn't choose my server yet, but I noticed that once you pick a server then you are stuck with that server unless you want to pay a fee. I'm hoping that I can get some friends of mine into Darkhaven if they haven't already played and picked a server.

Yeah, I had a couple of friends transfer over already. I didn't even ask if they had to pay a fee or not.

The one annoying thing is the 'overflow' servers. I'm hoping those will be around less after the game has been out. They basically make regular PVE impossible with friends. If you're in overflow, you cannot see your friends. so every time you switch to a different area, you go in to overflow for that area and have to wait in queue to get in to the real server, and be able to play with friends.
Luckily we all just queue up for WvW anyway and can always see each other there.

I thought I read somewhere that there currenty is NOT a fee for switching servers, but it is something that will be implemented eventually. Didn't check the date on that article, but that might be the case.

Also, is WvW is basically a PvP arena where you just battle people from other servers?

WvW is a massive PVP arena. I'd say it would take a good 10 minutes to walk across the map. 8 or so BIG castles, a bunch of smaller forts that you hold. Basically a massive scale PVP arena vs 2 other servers. I think I read that it allows 250 players. May be higher.

It's pretty great. It's cool because it's not an empty world and random events happen, NPCs are all around, and various monsters are spread around too. I've actually seen people get tired of fighting and going off and collecting the skill shrines, scenic views, and just killing monsters.

Are there incredibly long queues for pvp? Because when I played the Star Wars MMO, you had to wait practically 15 - 30 minutes just to get a 10 v 10 matchup. One time it took an hour even.

I haven't tried the regular PvP, just WvW. And yes, right now the queues are long. Granted the game hadn't even officially released all weekend. I don't know if that will make queues longer, shorter, or what. Typically if I wanted to play I would hop in Queue and go explore or quest. I'd say this past weekend 30 minutes was a fairly average wait.
However each WvW game lasts for 2 weeks. So once you're in, you're in for that play session.

Well yeah, I did expect it to be somewhat long because the game really hasn't released yet. lol. Just wondering what the WvW queue was like so far.

On Darkhaven. Finally playing this game after waiting since they were hinting toward the creation of this game... too long ago.

Loving the game so far. I just love how everyone is, in a sense, in a party together. Working together to get the quests completed. The amount of people participating in a single quest can be absolutely massive at time. Haven't tried any PvP or WvW yet, looking to get my level up before I attempt that. I also like how each different kind of weapon has its own skills to unlock. Also the server overflow hasn't been too bad, usually takes about a minute before I'm placed in the right server, at least that's how it was yesterday... So far, very satisfied.

Yeah the overflow got a lot better yesterday. I'm guessing they added more server space.
Also, WvW adjusts your level to 80. So everyone is on a fairly even playing ground. The one thing that really gives anyone an advantage would be their gear.

We're working on adding some more members so we can buy a guildhouse and all that neat stuff.

What character are you running right now? Mine is a Charr Warrior.

Main is a Human Thief. I also have an Asura Elementalist and a Norn Warrior, but they're only level 5 or so.

So.... when I registered my actual GW2 key, I guess my display name changed to Xpert.4305. They really needed to make it easier to know where the hell to enter the key. They just say... make sure you register your serial code! And I'm searching all over my accout settings saying WHERE THE HELL DO I ENTER THIS d@mn KEY!!! GRRARARAAAHHAHAH!!!!!!

Ended up moving to the 'Tarnished Coast' server (think that's the right name). Since most of my friends who currently have guild wars were on that server and moving between servers is free right now, I decided to make the move while I still could.

Mmk. I think we're going to stay put here. We've got a pretty decent group now and I've liked what I've seen from the community here so far.

Yeah see, one of my friends wanted to get the game but couldn't due to currency issues. So I loaned him money to get the game. A group he plays with often was on Tarnished Coast, and I knew some of those people as well. He told them he was choosing Darkhaven because I helped him out. So I just decided that it would probably be best to move to Tarnished Coast.

Really enjoying the game so far. There are just too many things that I like about it... I like how when a quest appears near you, you'll be doing it by yourself for about 30 seconds and all of a sudden 50 people pop out of nowhere to do the quest too. lol. Also getting the Vistas has been pretty fun, some of them can be quite challenging.

Yeah definitely. I'll talk with my brother and some of our friends and see if maybe we can move there also. Right now my friends are spread across a few servers so it might be a good time to jump on that. Especially while it's free and before everyone is entrenched in their server.

What's your opinion on your level auto-adjusting based on the area your in? I've heard people complaining about it in public chat, but I think it's a plus. For the people leveling up in, say, a level 15 zone. They get the challenge of taking out a champion creature without a level 80 swooping in and instantly killing it. I think it's a feature that enhances gameplay, not hinders it.
