Which day would work best this week for a GR Breakout Tourney?
Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
Totally agree with ya Interseptor, I'm just spitballing Ideas out there
We do need somebody incharge, go for it puppet, I can also host if somebody doesn't want to but 10pm central is about as early as I can 100% commet to and We can always do an early and late tourney if we have enough people.
time and date need to be finalized
who All can attend
what and how
I'll be on from 10pm til 3am prob fir and sat unless work calls me in or my wife goes into labor, kinda got to TCB those
So everybody get your Ideas and thoughts in today and then lets try and post up and offical post late tonight or tommorow with the final info.
if nothing else everybody post up When YOU think you will most likly be ONLINE fri and sat

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
I voted Friday but can probably make either. I have a soccer game at 5pm central on Saturday, but can be online about 7pm central, unless I play a second game which would start at 8pm. Friday after work around 5:30pm.
Team Size: I see to avenues but it depends on how many show up.
Option 1: 6-12 I would say 2 teams. If we get 13+ then 3 teams.
Option 2: teams of 3 max. Single squads so you have 2 friends to spawn on. More small team tactics.
The chemistry of teams is very important. I feel each squad needs an engineer, so maybe we shouldn't assign teams randomly. If none of that squad or team play engineer, or they are all scouts, then the game could be very lopsided.
Game Mode: I like them all, but I really enjoy Saboteur - it is a neutral bomb that works very well in GR. It doesn't get you as much XP consistantly in public rooms, but is tons of fun and who cares about XP in a private match. Siege would be my last pick - it favors the high level scouts and engineers - riflemen have little value (and that is my fav class). Decoy is very interesting and fun but can be chaotic if not everyone knows the rules or the team doesn't organize a defensive strat. Conflict is a great mode but the game can be determined by random, inconsistant, and lopsided placements of the capture point - it is also what everyone plays most so while everyone is familiar with it it is a little ho-hum same-ol same-ol.
I'm down for whatever and will play rifleman or engineer.
My game mode preference from highest to lowest (and team size in parentheses): Saboteur (3 or 6), Decoy (6), Conflict (6), Siege (3 or 6).

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
I prefer Friday around midnight central time. We could always push it back a week to allow more time for someone to plan, organize, create a trophy etc...
Puppet you have first dibs on running this thing but if you would rather not then I am willing to run it but I would ask for it to be pushed back a week.

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
If we're doing it tournament style here's my suggestion regardless of gametype:
Follow the MLG tourney structure. So:
Team size: x vs x
Series are Best of 3
Winner Moves on, loser goes to losers bracket.
2nd loss eliminates you.
Winner of Winners Bracket plays the Winner of the Losers Bracket.
Losers bracket has to win Two Best of 3's to win the tournament.
Winners bracket only needs to win One Best of 3 to win the tournament.

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
I have no problem putting this together for this weekend. I'll take into consideration everyone's suggestions here and I'll post up the official rules and layout for the tourney tomorrow, so I if anyone else has any further suggestions, please post them up tonight.
Here's tentatively what I'm looking at:
- 9pm EST start (determine teams and set up bracket)
- Try to keep teams to like 3-4 players so number of teams would be based on how many show up
- Give each team like 5-10 min before the entire tourney starts to strategize (attack/defense plans, what classes everyone is taking, etc).
- Use the MLG type Winner's and Loser's Bracket like Atrum posted
- If there's a prize, random drawing vs all players in tourney and then maybe custom sigs/trophy for the winners
- possibly pick teams in advance to allow teams to practice. The only problem is if someone doesn't show and I feel that Breakout Tourneys are a little more impromptu and random
These are tentative ideas that seem to be what most people are interested in but please post up any more thoughts and I'll have a final setup posted probably early morning tomorrow.
It sounds like we have a lot of interest in this and it should be a great time. Also, if there's enough interest, I think the tourney could possibly be set up as two:
1.) Late Night Breakout Tourney (like midnight Friday)
2.) Breakout Tourney (like 9pm Saturday)
Toss in your two cents ASAP and I'll get this thing rolling.

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
Sounds good puppet, I think me ,knightowl or coolhand could run a late nite one on fri or sat, just let us know the way the early one is run so we can do the same
I'm glad u got the ball rolln on this, now we can always run another one next weekend if we need too, I'm just push n for this weekend because once my second kid is here I'm gonna be MIA for awhile and she is due the 2nd of July. I will not be able to make the 9 eastern time frame, but could a round 2
Oh and I've got some bottle openers for prizes

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
Looks good to me too. I like the idea of at least 5v5 or 6v6 so we can really use the games tactics. 3v3 could also work but I would avoid 4v4 if possible due to squad management. It would suck to be the guy without a squad. This game is all about teamwork so the teams should be as large as possible in my opinion.
Also, if there are 12 of us and we go 6v6 there is no reason to use the brackets. In that case I would recommend going best of 5 or even 7.

BUMP: Breakout Tourney is hereby posted:
https://sacredseven.forumotion.net/t4640-s7-ghost-recon-breakout-tourney#51899
I look forward to seeing everyone there. I know Droopy expressed that either he, Coolhand or Knightowl could possibly run a Late Nite version and I offer up running that event to them.

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
I kinda figured that there could be a second/late nite tourney using the same rules on either Friday or Saturday night. Droopy said he'd be willing to set one up so I thought he'd take the reins on that.S7 Coolhand wrote:I'm down for a second late night one - you have a time/day in mind Droopy?

I'll probably be on either way for the late players so even if we don't have a late tourney I should be around.

I'm off next weekend so a late nite on Friday or Saturday would probably be good with me. Seems that the later we got in the night the more people we were able to scrounge up.

Re: Breakout Tourney Thoughts
I missed the tournament. When the time came for the tournament to start, I only saw only 2-3 people on Ghost Recon, so I continued to finish Assassins Creed Revelations because I figured that the tournament wasn't going to happen with just four people. By the time the tournament ACTUALLY started, I was busy and couldn't attend. Maybe next time.
