Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
I do like the fact that a new BF game is NOT released every year. I will give then a little credit for that (until they start releasing one every year LOL). But like I said, it's the principal of the thing. I just feel like it's a bait and switch thing and it just aggravated me. Too many games out there to worry about one for too long. Piss me off and I am gone. Happened with COD and now BF3.
Besides, I think $15 DLC for MP maps is a joke. The only ones I ever bought were the Zombie maps for Black Ops because I felt like it was worth my money. DLC has to be worth it for me to buy. $15 for maps does not cut it for me in general.

Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
I don't think that the premium service is that big a deal. If you really plan on sticking around to play battlefield for 2+ years after its release, then this would be great for you as you get everything cheaper than what it would cost to buy it individually. I'm not much of a fan of it because I know I wouldn't be entertained by a game for that long. There are other things that tend to tick me off such as pre-order expansion packs or the release of dlc for a game within a week of its release.

Yeah expansions that come with the game or withing 2-3 months of launch are silly.

It's like a pack of guitar strings without the "E"....
We'll have an expansion pack in a few weeks and the "E" string will cost $15 bucks! LOL

Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
Sounds like they thought COD Elite would fail and drive folks to BF3, but now they see it brought in buco bucks for Activision and they want some of that gravy. Minus cool points for the flip-flop.

Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
I think we can agree that EA saw how much money Elite was earning and decided to emulate the business model. Though it is an obvious cash grab it still a better deal than buying the remaining DLC separately. For people such as myself, buying the premium service is a no brainer because I not only save ten bucks but I also get a bunch of goodies on the side. It is a cash grab no doubt about it but it is also not a rip off for those that love the game.
I still find it funny that people bring up the rental severs as a negative point. Rental servers have been around long before there was even xbox live. That being said, I cursed EA when they did away with official servers but they did fix that error in judgment and there are now tons of official servers available but I see many of them empty.

Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
I'm wondering how much of the premium service will require me to be able to use my Origin account because if I need to be able to use that then the premium account will be useless since I can't use my Origin account. I'll have to wait until someone else gets it and see if I need it.

If I can hazard a guess it will be purchasable via the live marketplace or from the store menu in-game. I will be getting it once it is available and will let you know.

Re: Battlefield 3 Premium Service
d@mn fat fingers on the iphone, the above comment should have been that I figure the Premium service will be linked to your Origin account, kind of like how the Battlelog site is linked to it. If that's the case the only benefit I'd get from the Premium service would be the DLC would be cheaper.
