Re: Favorite beer
S7 Interseptor wrote:I tolerate the regular beers like Bud light and I generally don't ever buy crappy beer. No Natty Ice etc... I like my beer with flavor.
Well, it is beer flavored water...
The only large dist US beer I like is Sam Adams, I'll tolerate Amber Bock if there is absolutely nothing else. But we do have some amazing micro breweries in this country...
Re: Favorite beer
Beer/Ale wise, my go-to's would be a bitter like John Smith's Extra Smooth or a Guinness, purely because of price and availability. I do like to try lots of of the specialty beers though. My favourites are probably Newcastle Brown and Wildcat, though I like to try the 'flavoured' ales. I had a banana bread flavoured one the other day that was pretty interesting.
I quite like some of the European wheat-beers too. They're pretty hit'n'miss though. They're either very nice, or comparable to sewage water.
Lager wise, once again there's what I like best...and what I drink most. My favourite all-round lager, i.e. good for drinking whenever, would be Stella (not the gay-ass 4% crap though) or Carling.
I drink Red Stripe and Bud quite a lot as they're the cheapeast ones at the club I frequent. Not necessarily a massive fan of them though.
I like drinking Millers purely for the novelty of the screw-top thingy as we don't really get that over here in England...or Europe for that matter.
I like a nice stein of San Miguel when it's warm. On holiday last year I discovered a special reserve version, it went down AMAZING sat watching the sunset over the African coast with a cool breeze blowing through and a plate of Tony Roma's ribs sat in front of me. Anyway...
I quite like Fosters Twists, they're good a good starter or link-up beer for if you've been drinking something sweeter previously.
Cider-wise, I like the various flavours of Kopparberg, Magners, Bulmers, etc. Most of the mainstream ones really. Though the best ciders always have, and always will be from the smaller cider mills, often in the country.
Spirits... Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Smirnoff, Sailor Jerry's Rum, Baileys, Jaeger, etc. etc.
I'll pretty much drink anything, mixed with anything.... it's kinda my thing around here....
If anyone wants the recipe for a drink that tastes like sick (exactly), then contact me. Let's just say one of the ingredients is a weetabix.....

Re: Favorite beer
Haven't seen the 101 yet - used to drink the Bock and got a kick out of it being a German beer from Texas. What is the 101 like?
Used to love Rolling Rock - what happened to them? I think it was in Latrobe Brewery in Pennsylvania, but I haven't seen it around in quite a while. Last couple cases I had were skunky so I moved on.

Re: Favorite beer
Not as good as the Black, but still really good. I don't know how to describe it right now (may have to go hame and sample another for the write up). The Bohemian Black is the best by far. Awesome stuff. The only Shiner I don't care for is the unfiltered wheat one. Then again, I don't like any of the unfiltered wheats, and not to fond of wheat beer in general. Don't get me wrong, I'll drink the sh!t out of it, but it lower on my prefered list
I used to like Rolling Rock too for a "light" beer. Last time I had it, it wasn't so good either.

Re: Favorite beer
Just stopped by the beer store and got a six of fat tire and a 12 of rolling rock. Fat tire is a real food beer. Reminds me of terrapin rue pale ale.
I got the rolling rock for "grass cutting beer".

Re: Favorite beer
I'm not a huge drinker but I do like a good beer every once in a while. I was going to make a new post then thought don't we have one already.
For me recently I tried shock top raspberry wheat. It's a really smooth beer. My typical favorites are Sam Adams summer, shock top (regular and raspberry), bloom moon, Sam cold snap, Sam winter. I have been wanting to try Sam porch rocker, and blue moon summer honey wheat.
I have a place near me that sells a pick 6 variety pack were you can pick any 6 bottles of whatever they happen to have loose, usaully a good selection. I'm going to go see if they have porch rocker or blue moon summer honey and buy some to try. It is a little bit more expenssive to do it that way but it's a great way to try different things. Anything new that you guys have been trying and liking?

Sam Adams Porch Rocker is REALLY good. I just tried it earlier this summer and loved it. I also like New Belgium's Fat Tire. It's a really nice Amber Ale similar to the Sam Adams stuff.

Revolver Blood & Honey is one of the best beers I've ever had. I don't believe it's available outside of Texas yet.
