I don' think ill be able to get this at launch not enough money. I might be able to sell MW2 and blackops to get close but still no ME3 right on launch.

I can't wait my data got corrupt for both ME1 and ME2 when I transfered everything over to my new box. I've been working on completing ME2 again so I can carry everything over to this one. I was able to get a DLC which allows you to make all the important decisions from ME1 without having to play the whole game over again. Needless to say I'm hyped up and ready to go. I'll pick it up but probably won't touch it until I'm done with ME2 again

I have to be at work by 6am for my weekly warehouse delivery on Tuesday so I'll be picking it up after work and then playing probably from like 8pm thru until when my wife gets home from work on Wednesday, and probably again on Wednesday night. SUPER GEEKED! Probably going to pre-order and possibly pay off Ghost Recon. Anyone know if there's a special edition or anything for that?

Got it, installing now, downloaded DLC. Still haven't finished my 2nd go on ME1 yet and haven't started 2nd go on ME2. Really torn on that, but I will probably go ahead and do ME3 now continuing from the one complete play through from 1 and 2.

I installed both discs, got my crap EA code put in, and downloaded the DLC that gives you the Eden Prime mission and after about an hour finally got to play for a good couple hours and from what I've played I have to say I'm really impressed.

I haven't played enough to give a good, in-depth review and I don't want to put out any spoilers so I'll just say a few things. I like where the story has progressed to, I like the changes to the crew and ship (and that they were explained rather than just here's some changes and new crew), and I'm glad that they didn't mess with what was perfected in ME2. I look forward to delving deeper into the solo campaign and getting a chance to play some co-op.

That being said, what's everyone else's initial thoughts/comments/concerns/FUs?

Really like the gameplay. It is a lot smoother than the previous games. I like that there isn't as much codex entry "look at this" spam everywhere. It's the third game in the series and it's nice to not have to go through that constantly.
Only have about 5 hours in so far but very interesting story, great cut scenes, and fun/varied missions.

Man, this game looks great, but apparently most of the greatness will be lost on me because I didn't play the first 2, so I'm holding off for now.

The advantage of playing the first two is that you can import a ME char into ME2 and a ME2 into ME3 and thus help to "choose your own adventure" for the background in ME 2 and ME3. By doing that your choices make the game more or less difficult and effect how the game plays for you.

It also helps to cut down on having to read all of the extra conversation branches to figure out what happened in the past because you shaped the past and just need to learn what has changed in the years between the games.

All in all, each of the games can be played as quality stand alone games but they're much more enjoyable if you play them in order to become more invested in your character and the story (like Halo but you get to customize the game more). Also, you will appreciate the evolution of the game more if you play all of them.

Just some food for thought for those of you that haven't played all the games and wanted to just jump into the third one.

@Epic SLAP! Someone who shares a name with should have finished 1 and 2 by now.

@Miller SLAP! This is your second one today.

I've only played for about 10 hours now...but that's also including the MP which I guess is something you should do to maximize your war effort. I'm liking the MP and loving the SP. @Atrum, I agree with you about the game play and cut scenes.

I'm so glad I have a few characters to import that have the different experiences (Good, Bad, some crew members and characters on side missions that died and others that lived, etc.) It really makes you own the experience of being Commander Shepherd.

As a fan of the series, I really feel like I'm being rewarded for my loyalty and commitment to finishing the other two games.

Highly recommend this game - absolutely great! But play the first 2 first - they are awesome plays, explain the story, and you are constantly reuniting with old characters from these so it is worth the time/effort.

@Jwriter - playing the MP improves your war effort in SP?

I agree with Jwriter about the importing of characters and making a difference in your gaming experience. That's one thing that I think EA does really well with their RPGs (ME series and DA series), they allow you to import your character from previous games and DLC so that you can bring "your" history with your character into the next game or DLC. That's one of the reasons why I put like over 150 hrs into the DA series and probably about the same into ME series, it's awesome to play out all the different major scenarios differently to see how your choices effect the current game and the future games.

Ok so I am about 17 hours in so far and this game is just great. Bioware games are some of the few out there that can get an emotional response out of me. I am currently about to make a major choice and it is actually really difficult for me to make. So much so I had to stop playing and think about how I want to proceed. I know my decision here will have a real effect on the rest of the game and it gives me pause. My hat is off to Bioware. Very few games can pull that off.

I assume you have played the others as well? Great series of games and this one is living up to the previous games as well.

I played this game like crack this weekend. Getting really sucked in to everything going on in the story. I also talked to Glock and OC a good bit and compared our stories so far. It is really amazing how different some of the story plays out depending on the smallest decisions. It's not just the big ones but little ones that you don't even realize you are making.

I had side characters die based off of simply procrastinating a decision. I thought they died no matter what but OC and Glock both had them alive. And then OC seems to have missed a side character entirely due to the order he went on missions. These were not big game changing decision but the smallest decisions that seemed to have no consequence.

What a fantastic game!!!

I really have to get back into this soon. Things have been a little off at work and so I'm not getting my decompressing/gaming time, which sucks. Glad to hear that this edition is just as good as the past ones.
