Re: Spring Ball
Wow Tico...0-7, so was it your manager or the Texas Rangers skipper that was in the corner smoking crack...LOL
I'm getting it confused, because apparently your manager was there with him. Man!
Your problem just got bigger...they play Albert Puljos tonight in St Louis...I'll be watching!

"Cincinnati Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez has failed a test for
performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, SI.com
has learned. An announcement is expected shortly. It is believed he
failed the test during spring training. The suspension will take effect
April 21. Volquez went 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA for the Reds in 2009. He was
an NL All-Star in 2008 but has not pitched yet this season."

Re: Spring Ball
Of course not, especially with the technology we have these days there will always be someone out there that needs it. There's 1 thing I will say is we're to quick to blast players before the situation is revealed. My personal opinion is you don't know about the guys before testing so you shouldn't blast current players. Think about it testing just got implemented not to long ago, there's no telling what the old school guys did and did not do. Also say a player does take something but it's truly just for a rehab purpose like coming off of an injury then it should be implemented these guys are risking their limbs everyday. I'm sorry but that will take a toll on anyone do you see the diving catches, unorthodox swings, getting HBP's(hit by pitch), the force they're putting in their arms to pitch 95 MPH and higher all while you signed a multi million dollar deal to be out on that field producing. I'm sorry but your job as a GM and player is to get your product out on the field if you can't do that what is the point of it, do what you got to do now again I'm not talking about steroids, I'm talking about getting positive tests for actually trying to get better not filling your muscles up with water just in case that's what anyone thought I meant.Oh and Klown this is not in any way directed towards you, as a matter of fact only the 1st sentence pertains to you since I was answering your post lol, the rest of it was just me rambling of my opinions just to clarify things up.S7 K1ll3rKlown wrote:"Cincinnati Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez has failed a test for

Re: Spring Ball
Not, I get you...But you have to look at the older players too like Hank Aaron, Reggie Jackson, etc. They were clean! or even way, way back to the Babe Ruth days when there was no steroids to take and yet he's still got numbers in the books they can't reach..LOL
Those guys played on heart, talent, and very little money. I love baseball, but I hate the way they do things sometimes...like I will never forgive Bud Selig for the way he's treating Pete Rose. Say what you want, and feel what you want...Pete Rose has done more for baseball and put up better numbers than half these clowns! No steroids at all....yet he can't even get good seats at the Cincinnati Reds home game ...I saw him last night in the cheap seats.
Sad really.

Re: Spring Ball
I got our MLB + amazing...
The Washington Nationals took two from the Dodgers, nearly had a clean sweep, took the Dodgers to the 13th inning in the loss-- and actually had Pudge called out on the run home w/ a man on third. Meaning, they were only a half inch from a tie (or correct call by the Ump), and 90 ft. from winning that one too .
This year already...they've beaten the Dodgers (2/3), Mets (2/3), Phillies (2/6), Brewers (2/3), and the Rockies (2/4)....I'd call that pretty good.
Last year they would have been clean sweeps for the other teams. These are all good MLB clubs too...they are NOT the Royals, Tigers, or Pirates.

Re: Spring Ball
Not to talk up one of Tico's teams, but look at the Astro's at 8 and 10, and compare them to a top tier team like say the Red Sox who are 8 and 11. LOL.

Re: Spring Ball
Well, last night's game (Red Sox/Yankees) was as classic as it gets. We were ahead by a butt load, and honestly I thought it was over in the first inning. The Sox came back, took the lead and it got interesting....in the end A. Rod and Marcus Thames created a night of magic in the Bronx against Papelbon. The best and most perfect part, Nomar and Aaron Boone (former Red Sox and former Yankee) were the commentators and both were speechless.

Re: Spring Ball
It was a classic for sure. I think you will start to see less and less of papelbon in the closer role as he has become so hittable. You will see more and more of Daniel Bard in that role.

Re: Spring Ball
Yeah...I think Papelbon has become a bit hittable. It wasn't classic because we won...don't misunderstand, It's the way baseball should be played. Everyone trying their hardest to beat the other man. I see too many games where I wonder if the players are even trying.
Phillies, Rays, RedSox, Yankees, Twins....the American League is very interesting right now.

Re: Spring Ball
Yeah I know what you mean we have had that conversation before. It wouldn't be a good Red Sox Yankees game if they do go through the roller coaster heart breaker highs and lows with the fire works finish.

Re: Spring Ball
Papelbon is shaky right now I hope we can plug these hole up before it's to late though. It's funny how the experts we're worried about our batting it's our pitching that's killing us.
Re: Spring Ball
Speaking of hittable closers, should we be afraid to bring in the Sandman? He got crushed for a granny...after walking in a run the other night against the Twins.

Re: Spring Ball
IDK you got a point and he's not getting any younger if he keeps it up I'm sure Girardi will bench him he's not shy about that sort of stuff.S7 K1ll3rKlown wrote:Speaking of hittable closers, should we be afraid to bring in the Sandman? Re: Spring Ball
I'm just hoping this turns ourseason around plus it doesn't help we can't get our starting lineup out there with all these injury's. It is what it is though we got to push through it and excel I just hope now is the time lol.
Re: Spring Ball
In all honesty, you guys are running through probably your hardest portion of the schedule right now.
You just got done with us, now the Twins (tonight and tomorrow), then the Phillies, followed by three hard nights against Tampa Bay
Sucks being you bro...LOL
