MLB The Show '16
Well, last year I bought a Play Station Vita. This year, I'm going full blown PS4!!
Both my son and my nephew now have one, and I've had time to play it anytime I want. They are not quite as good as the XBOX One when it comes to the whole entertainment thing. The best way to describe it is PS4 has all the apps like Hulu, Nexflix, etc., but Xbox was designed to almost integrate with your TV without you noticing. While the PS4 was designed to sit beside your TV and get along with all your technology. It's not quite the same, they are built for different personalities and people with different wants, needs, desires. But what I can say we all desire (us stuck on xbox) is a decent baseball game.
THAT IS SOMETHING PS4 DOES QUITE FREAKIN' WELL (IT'S ALMOST SCARY)....

I just got The Division, I've got 1/2 of Uncharted 2 and all of Uncharted 3 & Uncharted 4 when it come in April, so yeah probably mid-June sounds right. And depending on how fast I get thru U2 & U3 I might get #4 for Father's Day.

Really missing baseball on the Xbox one. I'm not sure why Microsoft doesn't make their own game. Or some one else doesn't. By the way rbi is not baseball.

Gotta be the coolest thing I've ever seen in real life and the coolest ever done in a sports video game. I say that because I am infact ambidextrous-- but can only write, brush teeth, eat, swing bat / golf clubs etc. with both hands. Never even as a child tried pitching with both .
I can throw a rock at you with both, but this is totally different!

Now that's pretty sweet, but I still probably won't pick it up for a while since I'm pretty much playing The Division exclusively.

My wife found the gift cards we got for changing cell service a couple months ago so we've each got one to spend. I'm thinking of picking up a digital copy of the the MVP version of this sometime soon. I know it's late in the season but I can get a $70 game for $50 and it should be worthwhile.

It is worthwhile even though it is "kinda" late in the season, because a good baseball game is worth it anytime of the year.

That was my thought process. I don't tend to buy the new sportball game each year, so I'd like to pick up a year that the Cubs are probably top rated.

I finally picked up the MVP version on Amazon for $50. Excellent game, glad I got it. Played one game with the Cubs in my franchise and then I tried out the create-a-player career and I don't know if I'll go back to the franchise.
My SP is in the rotation for the Cubs AA team and with 2 starts he's 2-0 with 16 innings, 27K, a 0.00 ERA, 1 CG and 1 SO. He also went to bat 2x in his first game and is 2/2 (both singles) and almost got an RBI but the runner was slow as balls and got tagged at home.

Yeah, it's a really solid game. I like that you can carry your created player over to the next edition of the game and your franchise, that always ticked me off in Madden and other sports games.

Re: MLB The Show '16
Just threw a 1 walk, 14K no-no in my player's 5 game. My pitcher also went 3/4 with 2 doubles and a HR, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. I ended up giving up my 1st run in my 4th game and got a ND, so now my pitcher is at: 4-0, 41.1 IP, 3 BB, 67K, 0.22 ERA 5-5 QS, 3 CG & SHO, 14.59 K/9 and he's only allowed 7 hits.

Re: MLB The Show '16
Finished my initial stint in AA after 14 games at the AA All-Star break. Ended with a 13-0 record, 0.15 ERA, 121.1 IP & 210 K. I tossed like 2-3 no-nos, a couple perfect games, and had like 9 shut outs. I also set my career single-game strikeouts at 21 and ended up hitting 1 HR. I ended my time after starting in the AA All-Star Game where I pitched 2 innings and pulled the win (not a big feat).
After the break, I was promoted from AA Tennessee Smokies to the AAA Iowa Cubs. I'm sitting at either 3-0 on 4 starts or 4-0 on 5 starts and I've had 1 perfect game. My initial couple games in AAA got me added to the AAA All-Star roster where I pitched one inning in the middle of the game.
While I was originally looking to get to AAA for the next season, I'm now hoping the Cubs make the playoffs and I get added to the 40-man roster. Hopefully I'll be able to stay there long enough and make the 25-man roster for 2017 or start 2017 at or near the top of the Iowa Cubs rotation.
As of when I stopped playing, my player was up to a 68 rating.

Re: MLB The Show '16
So, this happened yesterday...
In 3 hit, 0 run game, my pitcher went 4-6, 2 R, 4 RBI, 2 HR, 0 BB & 0 K. Of course, that's pretty easy when your team shells the opponent 19-0 on 18 hits. One inning I batted twice and two times I came up with the bases chucked, unfortunately I couldn't scrape together a hit in either case.

Re: MLB The Show '16
Those are the craziest stats I've ever seen. When I first got the game and a PS4 it took me awhile to get comfortable with the controller and mechanics of this game. Seems like you have everything cooking. Then again you didn't have the XB1/PS4 transition issue I spoke about earlier.
In any case I wish every XB1 owner that is a baseball fan also owed a PS4...it's definitely the best baseball game I've ever played .

Re: MLB The Show '16
This game has gotten 10x better since I watched a YouTube video on the different pitching options and found the pitch meter. I struggled with the default pulse option but once I got the meter, lights out in the minors. I used to use basically the same feature on MVP Baseball when I played that years back, so it's very natural. The batting options with power or contact swings and pitch and location guessing are the same as either the MVP of the MLB 2K series.
Before my call-up, I threw like 5-6 perfect games and about as many no-nos between AA and AAA Cubs teams. I'm also glad to have found it before hitting the majors, as the batters are obviously much more skilled than the majority of the players in the minors. Even with a fairly solid pitcher, I've had one game where I gave up 3 HR and one where I gave up 2. I ended the season with 11 starts in the bigs (didn't get to pitch in the playoffs, but the Cubs won the WS and had the same win % as they do in real life so the game AI is pretty good).
My final majors stats were 10-1, 11 GS, 89.2 IP, 144 K, 0.80 ERA. I batted around .415 and had 5 HR and 10 RBI (from the 8 spot, just like Madden does in real life). I ended up recieving the NL Rookie of the Year and the NL Silver Slugger (for pitcher) awards, so all in all a good first season. If I remember right, going into Spring Traning I'm in the 4 hole and if I can have some solid games I might be able to get my rating high enough to get ahead of Lester and/or Lackey and start the regular season either the 2nd or 3rd pitcher.

Re: MLB The Show '16
Never did ask, you started using the meter for pitching, but have you tried something like "stride" or flick for batting. Not just hitting the "x" button, but actual analog hitting (back on right stick for leg kick, then forward for power swing)?
It can get you a lot of great hits when you get the timing down--even against amazing pitchers like Mad Bum !

I might try that out when I'm not batting with a pitcher. I think I used something similar to that in one of the past games I played and really liked the feel and challenge it presented.
