Well word has it since April 7th you could purchase points in increments of 400 rather than 500 which makes it easier for gamers to buy thing off the marketplace without buying uneeded points. Here's the full story below take a peek if your interested at all, I think it's a good idea to just switch it to a monetary structure but this will do for now.

April 12, 2010 - Microsoft has changed the point increments members could buy on Xbox Live.

Previously, points were being sold in increments of 500, but the company has dialed it back to batches of 400 points, making it a bit easier to purchase titles online. Microsoft says this change was introduced after listening to feedback from the community.

"Beginning April 7, 2010, people in the U.S. are able to purchase Microsoft Points in increments of 400 on Xbox LIVE," the spokesperson said. "We made this changes based on feedback from the Xbox LIVE community, and are confident they'll be happy with these new offerings."

Microsoft said this change only affects those in U.S. territories.

Weird, I was just ranting about how their pricing scheme was really an ingenius was of extracting extra profit where there shouldn't be. Good news for us consumers, but yeah they made some bank already on thousands of old/cancelled accounts with 300 or so points on them.

I'll pay $20 for the next map pack...if it has 10 maps, new camos, game modes, and a arcade mode for the single player(like CoD4's).

Don't count on it. It looks like the next map pack might just be $20. Activision thinks they may have priced the Stimulus Map Pack too low! MS changing MSP pricing structure. Icon_eek They said that due to sales, they feel they could have priced the Stimulus Map pack even higher and still gotten the desired sales results. These people never cease to amaze me.

Check out all of the details here - http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/108/1082840p1.html

Makes me sick and I almost want to drop my copy of MW2 in the trash. I know they are a company and the bottom line is always about the money but do they have to be such asses about everything. Couldn't they at least pretend to care about creativity or quality?

Stimulus Map pack...

When you hear that and know that people are in financial stress right now (and it's freakin tax day) what do you think of?

You start thinking if it's a stimulus package, it's to help jump start the video game industry, thus the prices will be lower correct?..... NO.

So the only thing getting stimulated is their wallets? Reminds me of the airline industry, now they want to charge us for the take on bags ($35 per). Once they get started the only way to stop them is not use their product.

Don't buy, they can't overcharge.

Activision = milkers of the Call of Duty name. If the next map pack is $20 I'm not buying it. Unless my afore mentioned criteria are met.

It sucks but they're following the same profit model that most every successful business in the world uses.

I am seriously considering not buying the next one depending on what they offer/what price they ask. Activision just pisses me off.

On a related note: So far 13 IW employees have now left, including the two heads that were fired. Way to go Activision!

TBH, as much as it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I understand why Activision does what they do. It's a "don't hate the player, hate the game" situation. The fact is, they would never get away with this if the community was strong enough to resist it - but they're not. They will pay for it, and as long as they do - it's fair game. The other thing is, they provide a quality product that provides endless hours of enjoyment without asking for a subscription fee (XBL fees are on MS) like WOW's $15 a month or whatever. IMO it's greed and I won't take part in it, but I can't say I don't understand it. I know the price of the map pack is unprecedented, but so is the popularity of MW2. And many people have gotten way more than $60 worth of enjoyment out of it.

On the MS points thing, I still I don't understand this whole system. I spent the better part of my adult life trying to sell people sh1t (from shoes to houses) and MS seems to be ignoring one of the most basic rules to selling: make it easy for the customer to make the purchase. Take something like iTunes for example: the first time you go to the iTunes store you associate your credit card # with your account, and after that it's all one-click purchases. I want it, click, I got it. No time to think, no math to do, no second-guessing - money in Apple's pocket. I buy sh1t all the time from iTunes, I never buy sh1t on XBL - I want to, but I don't want to buy a $10, $15, $20 credit for a $1.99 purchase. So in turn, that's money that they could've had, but never will, because of the ridiculous system called MS points. They should just abolish it all together and let people buy stuff like they do in every other successful internet retailer.
