Child of Light
Anyone looking at picking this up? Only $15 and looks like a really solid game. Not sure I need a new game right now but I am thinking about grabbing it. Check out the review here - http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/29/child-of-light-review (IGN - 9.3 "Amazing")

Thinking about it. I like turn based rpg but would much rather control a group of characters. I do like how they mixed that with a platformer puzzle though.

Re: Child of Light
Child of Light just grabbed IGN's Game of the Month for April. Below is a link to a great little video/mini review of why they chose it. Take a look. I am really thinking about picking this up in the near future.

Looks like grandia or however you spell it from ps1. I will probably get it because of the huge RPG kick I am on now but I know what you know. It looks amazing and every news outlet is saying that it's an amazing game.

Re: Child of Light
Im really liking it. Puzzle platformer with RPG progression and turn based battles. The fights can be repetitive somewhat, but mixing up your party, continuing along the story path to new enemies, and mastering the timing keeps it fresh. The character progression is 3 linear paths of unlocks, so besides deciding which line to spend on there isn't a lot there. No gear, only oculi (gems) that you combine in different ways to make different or better versions. You equip these in 3 slots to modify element attack defense magic speed attributes and pools. Again not amazing but simple and effective. Only voice dialog between major chapters. The rest is poetic text. The party makeup is fairly original - no spoilers. Movement is great. You fly. Environments are very nice and colorful.
this is not a hard core RPG. It is simple but fun. It is also entiely appropriate for all ages. I am playing through on hard and have only died a couple times, so I can only imagine how easy the normal would be. $15 is about right for this one. It won't have a lot of replay value but it is a fair length qnd a fun diversion from my regular FPS binge. I'm about 2/3 through I think. A bit cheaper and I'd say it is a must by, but I think I'll get enough enjoyment from it to not feel cheated.
