Top Gun 2 Gets The Green Light… No, Seriously!

Even after 20 years of being grounded, it looks like the Top Gun sequel is finally set to take off as Paramount gets behind the sequel to give it the shake up it needed. It’s long been known that the sequel was in the works, but after ten years in development hell and the death of the original director Tony Scott, it was long believed that things had been abandoned.
As with most things in the movie industry, all you need is a big cheque book and Paramount of got Tom Cruise on board to reprise his role, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and even writer Justin Marks is on board to try fix up the since abandoned script draft from Peter Craig.
Personally I think this film is going to be utter guff, I just can’t imagine it gaining the same iconic status as it once did, but no doubt enough people will line up on day one to justify the cost of making it.

BTW, Tom is old and crazy now...not like when he was young and cool.

Reminds me of Mel Gibson, not quite the box office pull he once had.

Even if it's a good movie it just can't compare to the original.  This one should have been left alone.  Some movies you just don't mess with.

I agree with all of the above, but I will still watch it.  Wonder if ole Tom Skerrit will reprise as well.  Hopefully Cruze plays an instructor with a believably younger actor as the lead role pilot.

I know he doesn't look it (that's why women wear make-up too), but he's definitely pushing 85-90 HARD! Just what this already horrible idea needs.

I can hear the pitch now "Geriatric Pilots, coming to a theater near you".

LOL not saying he would be active, but you know, throw in the obligatory scene where Mav goes and gets some advice from Viper about the new trouble maker.  Viper is like, "yeah, some students are real assholes," and Mav is like "hey, STFU old man!"
