Dual Monitor setup Empty Dual Monitor setup

Post by S7 SecurityGuy Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:23 am

Does anyone else use a dual monitor setup?

I have two monitors and one is an LED and one is a LCD and they look totally different . Both by Acer.

So do most people use the same kind monitor  that way they look the same?

I think most people do use the same type but you might just need to tweak your settings. Use the windows display program or nivida or ati display program if you have a graphics card
Sometimes the output to the second display can be auto set lower for power reasons

I have tried everything I can think of and it looks like sh1t...I think I need to get the same model of screen to make sure they both look exactly the same. It bugs me to death.

I use a 22 inch AOC  monitor as my main PC    but i also have my 40in TV  hooked up  so when i need to run Dual for streaming and so on .

most of the time you just need to Tweak the setting if one of the monitors looks a little funny
If you have an Nvidia Graphic card there is a control Panel that will help set up the 2 screen to make sure there both running at the best res

------------
but most of the time i do see people run the same model screens

I always have my Acer laptop dual monitored with my Toshiba TV and have had no problems. At work my screens are identical, but even if they weren't it could be fixed. If it is just a hue or color saturation difference then you could correct it fairly easily in the monitor's color settings. What are the differences?

I have tweaked every setting I can find and they do not look anything remotely similar. It might have something to do the USB to VGA External Video Card.

Don't look similar color wise or picture size?  What are the two model numbers?  I would definitely suggest going with a VGA to VGA cord if possible and leave the USB out of it.

Yea I am using onboard video on cpu so no video card. I have USB video card

Luke, it seems to be mainly colors and contrast. I cannot get the two monitors to match and I wondered what everyone else did that ran two monitors. One of the monitors is an LCD and the other an LED so I think that is why they look so different.

I guess the best thing is to use a good video card with two outputs(not a USB) and have matching monitors.

Ya i think the best bet would be get a video card  i think you pushed the usb card as far as it can go...

you should be able to puck up a GPU for cheap   if you want me to troll around for a good deal for us let me know about how much money u want to drop and what would be the main use for the card like gaming or video editing .... also pc spec so i can stay in the range of your computer.

Myself im running a  Gtx 560ti that i won  about 3 years ago still a very solid GPU  but if your PSU  does not have the  connectors for it .it would not work lol

Even if you get the same model it will not always have the exact same visuals. I personally have 3 Benq monitors 1 of them being a 120 Hz monitor. I'll post up an image when I get the chance. I do think getting a video card might help but I'm not sure I haven't used a mobos video ports in forever.

EDIT: Possible card: http://promotions.newegg.com/amd/14-0716/index.html?icid=233791

Choose the 260 lowest end card for the new AMD series.

If you are more of a Nvidia guy the 750 is the lowest end you can get in the newest series or you can try to swipe up a 600 series for a cheap deal as they are not produced anymore. What is the size of your power supply unit?

Yep, sounds like just a difference between the LED and LCD.  Should still be able to tune them close to each other, but I imagine that LED looks pretty sick compared to the LCD.  I doubt the USB is the problem - I would blame it if you had a lag, frame rate, etc problem.
