Anyone else pick it up? I haven't played a pokemon game in ages, but this one is great so far.

These games definitely give you more options in forming your team before the elite four.  In the previous games, I'd probably fill up one and a half PC boxes of all the pokemon I could possibly encounter along the way.  With X/Y, I'm only at the fourth gym leader and I've filled up four PC boxes already.

Yeah, they definitely make things easier. The exp share working across all pokemon, mass amounts of pokeballs, etc. I played original Blue last so it's an adjustment but I like all the changes. My only negative feeling at all was "Well that seems to easy" with exp share lol.

Yeah, I feel the same way about exp share.  I'd rather it be the way it was before where it's an item you give to one pokemon and the exp is split between the two.  If anything, exp share in X/Y at least should have been given to the player after the elite four or something because my party currently outlevels gym leaders by 15 to 20 levels.

On a side note. Do you actually own a 3DS?  If so, what's your friend code?

Yeah, I have a 3DS. I'll get my friend code tonight, I had to force myself to leave pokemon at home so I get something done today at work.

I was tempted to get a 3DS for this but then I remembered that I don't have enough time to justify it.

Yeah, I'll share my code once I get home as well.  I was thinking of just resetting my save data, start over without experience share.  As I said, my Pokemons levels are really high compared to gym leaders and I could even beat them with bad type matchups with no problems.  I find using experience share after completing the main story more practical if I want to level up and compete with my ideal team without having to grind as much.

I might do that. Is it really that bad? How does it distribute exp? I noticed it seems to level everyone absurdly fast.

I'm not sure how exact distribution works.  But I noticed that if you have a Pokemon that usually yields 1000 exp, and you sent out two Pokemon to battle it, then both Pokemon will recieve 1000 exp instead of splitting it 500/500 as it was with all previous installments.  I mean, the fourth gym leader had about level 35 Pokemon... and my party of four was between level 50-55 by then... so yeah, lol

Mayhaps you explore a bit more than intended in a regular playthrough? I'm the same though. I'll play through first time with exp share. Then if I want I'll do a 2nd one without. That'll sure make speed runs easier.

Let me know when the Emulated version comes out I'm to poor to justify a purchase of the device that runs the game.

Pokemon emulations suck. Don't get me wrong, I've played horrendous amounts of Red/Green/Blue/Yellow on my PC. It's not the same experience at all. No carrying the handheld around, sneaking in a fight here and there, etc.

The 2DS is only $130.  Can play any 3DS/DS games just with no 3D.  Honestly, I never even use 3D much at all.  Only on rare occasions.  The only time 3D is really used in Pokemon X/Y is during battles, but turning 3D on then makes a noticable difference on the frames per second, so I just play Pokemon in 2D.

So I did end up restarting again. Not going to use exp share this time around and see what happens.  This time around, however, I made immediate use of the 'Super Training' which is used to increase your Pokemon's EVs.  I think it's a fun mini-game.
