Microsoft Confirms 360 Headset Adapter for Xbox One

Microsoft has confirmed that it's making an adapter to allow current-gen and third-party headsets to work with the Xbox One, though this won't be included with the console.
Xbox One lead planner Alberto Penello made the announcement on Twitter, along with the revelation that the adapter would be sold as a separate accessory.

 

That was inevitable, I was just waiting for them to officially say it.

Now that interests me more than the developer kit and some of the other changes that have been announced since E3.

I hope it all works out for you guys that have headsets already!  I had planned on getting into the headset thing when the XB1 came out but I had to buy a new receiver for my entertainment system so that delays that happening.  Which really is probably a good thing.  Now I'll get to be able to see and hear reviews of the newer headsets before I take the plunge.

I would have been exited about this before but now that my headset broke meh cool but if there really is some good new tech in the new headsets then yea. But like Atrum said excuses to buy a new headset.

When and how much?

I'd guess 3-6 months and around $40 so they can try to clean up wih new headset and accessory sales for the holidays.

It should be more like $10, but I would bet it's going to be $20-$30. I don't think they will actually hit $40, but with MS who knows.

I just see $39.99 as a good MS accessory price, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go $29.99.  I just don't think they'd go much lower than that.

Considering the new chat headset and the play and plug kits are $24.99 I don't see any kind of adapter being any higher than that.
