Assassins Creed 3 Empty Assassins Creed 3

Post by DeadSockPuppet Sun Oct 28, 2012 10:46 pm

So, the more I read and see a out this game the more I seem to like it. I was wondering from those of you that have played the first two:

1.) How were the first two games?

2.) What kind of games are they?

3.) What kind of games are they like?

4.) Is this a game that I could get away without playing the previous ones or should I play 1 & 2 before starting 3?

Since I'm planning on picking up H4 and Zombies 3 I'll probably wait on AC3 (or any AC games) until Xmas but I thought I'd try and get some feedback in advance.

There has been 4 Assassins Creed games already.
With Brother hood and Revelations foloowing AC2.

I think they have been good games Revelations I didnt like as much as the story didn't seem as good. I can't wait for AC3 but if you wait you'll be fine but a good seires of games the first one was good but not as good as 2 and brotherhood.

To add to OC, this is a completely new storyline, so while it is not necessary to play the previous ones, I would highly recommend it. Assassins creed 2 and Brotherhood were probably my favorite two in the series. At least try one of them out so that you get familiar with the combat system and just making your way around the environments.

You'll likely need to know what has happened in the previous assassins creed to have an idea of what will happen in assassins creed 3. Trying not to give any spoilers... In assassins creed, you're a character in the future who is able to basically view the memories of his ancestors in the past. This future character has events happen to him that are probably important to know about. I'd recommend playing the Assassins Creed series to have a better understanding of the story. The only problem is that Assassins Creed 1's story gets very repetitive after a few hours of gameplay. All the other Assassin Creed stories have been fun all the way to the end in my opinion.

Good to know. Starting with the first games can get me a couple games to play on the cheap. Thanks for the info.

I've played them all and love the game play and the story....historically correct as far as some of the characters go. I threw some money down on the new game and will pick it up tomorrow.

Pretty much what everyone already said. It's a great series. I really liked the original, II and Brotherhood. Revolutions was only so so and you can probable skip that one. But the thing about the AC series is that there are two stories going on. There is the main story of the game which is self contained in each game and then an on going story arc that crosses all games. As Xpert pointed out the future time scenes are the thread that pulls the series together. It would be very strange and confusing to jump into AC3 if you didn't know what was going on. At the same time, The Revolutionary War part of the game will be all new so jumping in on that will be easy.

Bottom line... You could probably jump in to AC3 and be just fine after you get used to what was going on but I would recommend playing the original and 2 first if you get a chance.

(Brotherhood and Revolutions are expansions of AC2 and continue that character and his story.)

Then I'll probably ask for AC 1 & 2 for Xmas and hit 3 sometime thereafter, possibly in the spring when there might not be anything I'm looking to play.
