I was watching Trump's Stream on J.tv and someone actually paid $250 for a Yellow Level 60 sword... WTF

That's ridiculous. I could understand 10 or 20$ for an awesome piece of equipment that you'd use for a long, long time.

Some dude just sold that for 3.5M in game gold - is there a conversion rate? does blizzard sell gold or do you still have to buy it from the Chinese farmers like in WoW?

I don't believe they sell gold, so no real conversion. Once the economy has stabilized a bit there will be a rough 'conversion rate'.
