Anyone use an external mic?

I've just ordered some Audio-Technica ATH-A700X's to go with my new 3DTV and I'm wanting to rehome my 5xB's to my work, since they'll be great for both music, video and use with the Cisco softphone and Skype stuff when talking to clients.
Since my new headphones don't have a built in mic, I'll be looking to go external, like a clip-on or something. So, was wondering if anyone here already does that? Any tips/suggestions?
