there a patch going on right now and they hinted once the patch goes live the beta should be open to every one

eta on patch is 2 hours


and if this is true you should be able to Dl it

from battle.net under account management

I got in and got it installed. Unfortunately I will need a new computer. On the minimum settings for everything I could get it to run about half speed. I couldn't play the whole game this way, but I did get the witches in the graveyard done.

It may have been about three-quarters speed, with all the graphical settings at the minimum, but I managed to take out the Skeleton King with my Barb and even had time to try out the Hunter. I am already hooked, and can’t wait for the full release.

I will surely get the PC version, and Droopy has a PC he is willing to lend me that will play it very well. I still might break down and buy a new laptop if I can find a good one at the right price, but porting D3 over to consoles is a no brainer.

Let’s look at the main controls you need to play this game-

The two “action” buttons of the right and left click of the mouse are easily transferable to the right and left triggers of a controller. Then there are 4 hot-keyed skills (1-4), which would work for the main controller face buttons, and the “Q” to drink a health potion which could be mapped to a shoulder button or even a direction on the D-Pad. And that is about it for the buttons you must have in a hurry. I also like the “Alt” to see dropped items, and “tab” to zoom the map. Those easily work to other buttons (I’m thinking other shoulder for alt and one of the thumbstick buttons to zoom). It’s simply a natural for the Xbox and PS3 controller. Plus there are 4 other options on the menu bar for town portal, inventory, character, and game menu that work naturally on the D-pad or start and back keys.

If they do make a console version, you can be sure I will pick it up as well, and I hope there is a mod/patch to use a controller on the PC version too.
