Throwback Night!

After the excitement of playing some of our previous games in the up-all-night event, we are looking to start a monthly throwback night. We will pick one re-occurring night a month to play a different “older” game. So maybe one month we play Rainbow 6 and the next we play Halo, but it will be a regular scheduled date. What I’m looking at is the first or last Friday or Saturday night of the month. We will plan out the games ahead of time, so people will have a chance to rent, borrow, or pick them up.

What is everyone’s preference?

Friday or Saturday?

First or Last of the month?

What should be our First game?

Other thoughts/comments?

I'm gonna go with the first friday, because it seems to me that most new games come out the 2nd or 3rd weeks of the month and we might get a better turn out then. As for games idk street fighter/ Mk. Tourney or blkops

I liked the end of the month, just for the ease of "advertising" it. But if it's always the same every month, that is not such an issue after the first time or so.

Just a heads up, there has been discussion of changing the Forza night from Thursdays to Friday or Saturday. While this wouldn't necessarily cause a problem, it's something to think about. The idea, last I knew, was to keep Forza at 8:30pm EST, so we're usually done racing by like 10-10:30pm. In that case, if the Throwback was more of a late night event (like 11pm EST), there probably wouldn't be a problem.

That being said, I'd be up for either Friday or Saturday and I agree with miller that once the schedule is set up it really wouldn't matter whether or not it's the first or last week of the month. If we start with the first week of April, though, that would be Good Friday and Easter weekend.

Oh boy!! I have nowhere else to place these random thoughts, but it does tie into this poll.

So I played Halo last night, told myself "I'll run it once and get off" because I hadn't played in quite awhile. Had to remember how to throw grenades, melee, etc. but after just one round had all the needed skills back. Started playing and couldn't stop ! Remembered just what I love about this game.

You can walk away for as long as you want, but upon return there will always be full lobbies going. You can step away for COD, MW3, Ghost Recon, Battlefield, Forza, MLB2kx or whatever game you want but Halo doesn't care. Halo will be there when all else fails. She's committed to making sure you have a great time, and nothing else matters. Sure it's futuristic, not based on reality, has limited gravity requirements and has a weird mixture of human and alien weapons. But it's all a game and none are real when you get down to it. So if you accept Halo for what it is -- it'll give you countless hours of fun. Try to over analyze it and you can find numerous faults. But the same can be said for every other game no matter how closely it's based on reality.

friday nights are good.

Fridays are generally good for me too. First or last makes little difference. And I would love to see GRAW or GRAW 2!!!

Yeah, GRAW 2. It'll be nice to play a good GRAW game since Ubisoft have turned the new one into Call of Halofield.

I might have to pick up used copies of GRAW and GRAW 2 so that I can join in the fun. Might have to pick up the R6 games too, or at least the most popular one.

It's looking like Friday will be the winner. I selected last Friday, but I'd have about the same chances of coming whether it's the first or last.

I would love to play some graw or graw 1 or even r6v1

Other Games I would like to see include, COD4, Black Ops, R6V, Halo and Crysis 2. But Mostly GRAW 2!!!

If you don't include RB6.....I'm taking all of you off my friends list..J/K..LOL!

Hell yeah! Maybe not for retro game night but I would definitely be down for this. I'll be around tomorrow night if your down.

As far as retro game night, Cops and Robbers would be epic if we could get enough guys. Even TDM is fun in this game.
