The New iPad

Thoughts? Comments? (aside from the incredibly stupid name "The New iPad")

More specced out than I was expecting, that CPU/GPU is pretty sick. Retina and 4G were expected, as was the 1080p iSight. Other than that, not really anything else to it - not that that's a bad thing, iPads are still awesome products.

I'd really, really like one but I'm not sure what I'd actually use it for.

Yeah, it frankly looks great. Great much needed upgrades, even if most people already kind of knew what to expect. I'd love to get a new one (I am still rocking the first gen iPad) but I don't really have the extra cash right now. Plus my original iPad still works as good today as it did day 1 (an amazing testament to the product).

As for your question about how you would use it? I didn't really know myself until I bought one and started using it. The answer? Everything. I seriously use mine for everything. Day planner, bill management, bank monitoring, web surfing, e-mails, XBL messages, games, movies, netflix, books, comics, social media, weather forecast and that is just the every day activity. I carry it with me everywhere I go and I would hate to hate to live without it.

I have an iPhone and much prefer physical books. Not to mention I'm at a PC coding most of the day anyway.

I definitely could and would use it but justifying it is pretty hard.

I like it but honestly there's no incentive to give up my iPad just yet.
Mine works fine. I'm not the "I need it because it's new" guy so 2 years from now maybe. Still haven't pulled the trigger on an iPhone...and I ACTUALLY want that. Still rocking the Blackberry Curve .

Yeah it looks and sounds pretty sweet but I just wouldn't use it enough to make it worth my money. I do most of what Zak listed on my iPhone and the things that I don't use my phone for I either don't use or I prefer the original item, like actual books.

I do like seeing the potential note taking and possible easy browsing of the internet while in class, but I still would side with a tablet that ran android over a iPad.

With the new iPhoto, and Adobe Touch, this is pretty much a laptop replacement for me. I mean being on a location shoot and having the ability to upload my RAW images to the iPad then edit them with pro style tools is great.

I use mine a lot at work--Noteshelf and a stylus helps me with note taking. Plus since the company I work at doesn't let me check my email from my personal devices, I just clip all my emails to a folder in Evernote, and have them on the go.

Epic, I hear ya on the books, but honestly reading a book on the iPad is great. Plus, the ability to highlight and write notes is amazing. I mostly use the Kindle app, which also allows me to import and read PDFs. Also, why don;t YOU create an app that will allow you to code on an iPad...you could make a killing, not to mention be recognized globally as England's baddest pimp.

Panzer i have never had as much respect for you as i do now lol. I agree with you though. Android has been doing some of the things apple is just now doing. If i would get a tablet i would go for the Transformer Prime.

I guess if the brightness was ok, then it would probably be good...

In regards to the coding app, I think if it was possible, it would've been done. iOS is pretty restrictive with stuff like that.

Its because I never play with you guys to busy with LoL and school. You should have seen me when I was in high school I was never offline.

One other thing I bought was a bag that is really going to be for my camera as I have been needing to get back into using my camera more . I became a bit lazy because it has been so easy to snap photos with the iPhone. But the quality from my Nikon d70 is better than the iPhone. This backpack also has space for a small laptop or iPad and other accessories.

Pretty tough case with plenty of storage as well. I've got a couple on order so I'll let you know how I end up liking it.

So I have receive my case, smart cover, and bag not I just need an iPad. It's coming in the mail Friday.

I have been tracking this for the past few days and it is now out for delivery. I can not wait to get my hands on it and start using it. work is dragging a bit today in anticipation of getting to go home.

freakin\' FedEx attempts to delivery while at work and no one is home so I get an email saying that I missed the delivery and they won't redeliver till tomorrow. So I asked if they could drop it off at a FedEx place to pick it up today or redeliver today but no. Now I have to wait till tomorrow. So I told them to leave it at the FedEx location near me to pick up tomorrow. So pissed

yeah, I've had that BS happen too.

Just got home and found the "door tag" they left and it says I can pick it up tonight between 7-7:30 pm
Well at least that is better than tomorrow. Still pissed. It's not like I am going to pre sign for a package and then have something happen to it or have it disappear and be out $600.

Finally got it and set it up for the most part. I love it even more than I though I would.
