iPad Apps
AirVideo, lets you stream those
"downloaded" movies and TV shows wireless from your computer to your
iPad from multiple folders if need be.
Remoter works pretty well
at allowing me to control my Mac in my home office from my iPad if I'm
in another room...don't have to get my lazy ass up to do anything on my
computer.
iThoughtsHD is great for idea/concept mapping and the iWork suite has been working even better since the update. Also, Dropbox has been a lifesaver with file transfers.
As far as Games, I'm liking Realracing HD, RSoccer10, and Scrabble (gotta keep those brain juices flowing)
As far as social media, Mashable is great for tech and social media news, also NPR, BBC and Reuters for reg news. I'm also on Loop and Gowalla--anyone else on those two?

Re: iPad Apps
I use Gowalla but I prefer Digg for news, along with my Guardian newspaper app.
Both iPhones apps btw but I believe they have iPad counterparts.

Re: iPad Apps
Can other things like the OS be changed on the iPad...for instance can I load ubuntu? Maybe even run Mac OS x snow leopard?
That would make this thing cool.
If it's totally locked down like all other Apple products, well... That's the reason I don't have the other Apple stuff. It's not that the ipod or iphone, or ipad aren't cool gadgets, it's that I'm being forced to play by Steve Jobs rules and I'm a rebel!

Re: iPad Apps
Well rebel many things can be done with the iphone and ipad if you jail break it. They have shown the iphone running android and other mobile os progams. There is probably a way to do it.

Re: iPad Apps
HaHa, you know what I mean OC. It's specific file extensions or none at all type thing. Everything is DRM'd (short for Digital Rights Management.
Nice name, only it restricts YOUR rights--see below) meanwhile there are other products that allow numerous .ext or files to be used, viewed, played, saved, etc.
But with an Apple product everything is restricted. I'm not "knocking it" from a business standpoint (it's yours make all the money and don't allow people to use other products-- only your software), but from the consumer standpoint it sucks.
"DRM-Free???"
Due to the strong opposition that exists to DRM, many companies and artists have begun advertising their products as "DRM-Free". Most notably, Apple began selling "DRM-Free" music through their iTunes store in April 2007. It was later revealed that the DRM-Free iTunes files were still embedded with each user's account information, a technique called Digital Wartermarking generally not regarded as DRM. In January 2009, iTunes began marketing all of their songs as "DRM-Free", however iTunes continues to use DRM on movies, TV shows, ringtones, and audiobooks.

Re: iPad Apps
There is now an app out that will aid in preordering different items, such as the iPhone 4 and other items.

I really should get a netflix account. I hear this app is great and between, the Xbox, iPhone and now the iPad I could really get a lot of use out of it.

Re: iPad Apps
Ok I am brining this thread back as I am getting my upad on the 16th and wanted to know from you iPad users what apps do you consider to be "must have" iPad apps. I do have a general idea from what I use on my iPhone but was just curious.

Re: iPad Apps
I don't have one, but if I did, I would get this:
http://www.imaltwhiskyapp.com/
Seriously, I've been thinking about getting one to play with, but money has been tight and I'm not sure I would use it that much. My bonus gets here next week and I was thinking of something to treat myself (before it all goes to bills) and the iPad come up on my list. Then again, I'll probably just get the whisky.

@mrmiller SLAP! get the iPad.
@OC -
- Evernote (www.evernote.com). Clip web pages, emails, import images, notes, etc. It's just a great app and service.
- Noteshelf and a Griffin Stylus. I can write notes on my iPad. Great for meetings and creative brainstorming.
- iPhoto...just watch the demo 'nuff said. Well, you might wanna have a towel handy, it's that good.
- 1Password
- Dropbox
- Netflix and Hulu
- iWork Suite - Pages, Keynote, Numbers
- Google Currents
- Google - provides access to almost all Google web apps - Docs, reader, etc.
- gMusic - Stream from your Google Music Library
Re: iPad Apps
Thanks J. I use most of those now on my iPhone. I saw the iPhoto demo it kills all other photo editing apps for the iPad-phone. I don't have a Hulu account but may be looking into it. For my use I don't think I will get the full work suite but will get pages. I use the google stuff alot I have not used note shelf but have played with the Griffen stylus and it works great.
