What exactly is Quick scoping?

I've seen this term used in a lot of places and I haven't been a fan of CoD enough to really know what is being referred to. Can somebody explain to me exactly what this is and why it seems to be such an advantage?

So, sniper rifles do a lot of damage, and they are super accurate, right?

Quickscoping refers to the art of running around using an ACOG scope on the sniper (*In the COD series, anyway. The term does exist in other games) and essentially head shooting everyone in sight.

It's not to be confused with no-scoping. Quickscoping actually goes through the animation of pulling up the scope, but there is a small window where in doing so, you will have perfect shot in the center of your screen.

It's where the sniper pulls up the scope to aim, and quickly fires off the shot before even seeing anything in the scope (not so much the acog- that would be just some quick skill shots). COD is notorious for the auto aim it employs, and snipers are able to take advantage with the quick scope. Nube tubes used to big with it as well. Really, the auto aim can be exploited with all weapons, but is more extreme with the scopes and launchers.

Quickscopers = twat waffles so try to avoid this. If someone else is doing it to you first, by all means get them back or noob tube the hell out of them. While this does take some skill to do (unlike a noob tube) it's still douchey.

Great description. Also there are certain class perks that allow QS to be easier for instance like the Faster ADS allows for them to zoom in quicker. Sleight of Hand allows them to reload faster for bolt action as well.

I do disagree with the acog though, most people i see quick scoping use the normal scope. Preference i guess
