pc video card/tv

so i have been trying to hook up my pc to my tv like i used to run on my old Xp

how ever when i hook it up and turn it on you see the boot menu and all that pass by but when u get to the log in screen it goes black.

any clue how to fix this issue


i have tried lowering the screen res as well as hooking my video card up with HDMI with no change.

i need to get a new monitor my 20inch one has a dam white line in the middle of it and wont go away!!!

do you have the "extend my desktop on to this monitor" checked on the settings tab of display properties?
