Yeah I was watching it and was a good game for portugal it was an onslaught at the end with Ronaldo finally ended his drought and scored a goal. I'm telling you at the end it was like North Korea had nothing Portugal was getting all types of pressure on the keeper even in stoppage time while up 7 they almost scored.

That's probably wise; no joke. No telling what the "Dear Leader" will do to them if they return humiliated.S7 Epic wrote:I hear some of the Koreans are actually defecting, lol.
Some good games today. Mexico-Uruguay should be a great contest; Argentina will show its firepower against Greece; France faces host South Africa, but one of them needs to win by a lot of goals and have a narrow victory for either side in the Mex-Uruguay game to have any shot of staying in. It's looking like France will be the first BigDog to head home.

Uruguay and Mexico advance from Group A.
Argentina and South Korea advance from Group B.
France, South Africa, Nigeria, and Greece are out. South Africa becomes the first host nation to not make it to the 2nd round in WC history. Who knows, maybe people will stop blowing those stupid horns now.

Re: World Cup 2010
Unbelievable finish to the USA-Algeria game! 91st minute goal for Landon Donavon puts USA first in Group C. England advances in 2nd place. Slovenia and Algeria are eliminated.
Dempsey was robbed of a goal in the first half due to a poor offside call. He then got bloodied up from an elbow by Algerias captain #4 who was later ejected. We had tons of attacking but got very unlucky a lot. We did dodge a few bullets though, the first being an early Algerian attempt that went off the crossbar. Our goal was initially blocked but Landon followed up and finished it easily. My heart hasn't slowed down yet

Re: World Cup 2010
England put in a world-class performance and were unlucky not to get another goal, which would've clinched us the group.

EPIC win dude. i watched the game nervously from work. In fact all my coworkers were like WTF when i screamed out the goal in the 91st.
i thought for sure the ball was never going on. what a break away counter from donovan. we deserve to win the group and we deserve to be in the next round.

Re: World Cup 2010
That was an awesome game even though it was nerve racking with all the missed/robbed oppurtunities through the whole game all they could do is say how we were robbed early on lol. Great game though we do deserve this we haven't lost a game yet and we battled our asses off the whole 90 min of each and every game. That explains why we have 12 goals after the 86 min in the first round that more than doube of what anyone else has.

jk England did well to advance - that Slovenian team aint bad, but I know England is capable of a lot more than we've seen so far this WC. You better just hope it doesn't come down to PKs against the Germans.
As for the USA, I can't wait for this rematch with Ghana!

I seriously think my heart stopped for a minute there, just hoping he didnt miss it. lol I also think the refs have it out for the U.S., it should have been 2-0, but a win is a win i guess. I look forward to the rematch against Ghana, who knocks us out last time GO USA!!!

ITALY GOES HOME! 2006 World Cup champs are sent home after a 3-2 loss to Slovakia. This is one crazy WC.

Re: World Cup 2010
Well, Ghana are through.
Should've left Altidore on, was causing lots more problems for the Ghanaians than Gomez.
So, Uruguay v Ghana in the last 8, meaning one of them in the semi...Uruguay could take the whole competition.

Re: World Cup 2010
sad game. we fought till the end tho. still cant believe how altidore and bradley didn't take those chances.
oh well. it was still a success to win the group and get to the second round. ghana has always been a difficult team for us.
now to root for england.

Re: World Cup 2010
Well, they're the only Africans left it, so they had a lot of heart. I think you guys showed that you deserved to be there though.
I hear grass roots soccer is doing well over there, so it shouldn't be too long before you get to a quarter or semi final....as long as you find a replacement for Donovan, he'll be pretty old by 2014.
Germany in less than 11 hours....too nervous to sleep. No easy games from now on, they'll all feel like finals.

Re: World Cup 2010
After every game I keep saying to myself, "Well, at least the officiating can't get any worse"....but it always does. Both games today were ridiculous. Even though Argentina and Germany seemed to dominate, Mexico and England gave up after the bad calls.
At least the Argentina-Germany game should be amazing next weekend.

Re: World Cup 2010
Tragic non-calls for England and Mexico - I feel your pain.
USA can't concede early goals and still have a chance. We did it again in extra time and Ghana turtled up after that. Bob Bradley let me down. He wasted our subs to make the lineup closer to what it should have started as. Edu should start for Clark. Buddle should start for Findley. Beasley should start or at least be used as a sub but has been ignored by Bob all tourny. Spector would have been a great help as a speedy defender. Altidore should have been pulled sooner as he was not in form after getting injured early on - he just stopped being a threat. Bocanegra played well all tourny until he gave up on the play and looked up at the sky, just before they scored - there's no excuse for that. I dislike DeMerrit; I think he lacks a lot of skill but he made some good plays, just failed at the end. Bornstein was great. Cherundolo was not. Feilhaber wasn't bad as a sub but I still thought there were better choices, mainly Buddle and Beasley.
It was a good run, but I think Bob dropped the ball on his lineup and subs. He needed to adjust his gameplan to fit which players were playing well in the tourny, but instead he was very stubborn in sticking with his lineup and rotation.
Argentina vs Germany will be epic! Uruguay should probably win it all though since they won the very first WC and this is the last one (the world ends in 2012).

Man he crushed that shot from outside the penalty area. He tried to pass and got it blocked so he made a little space and said "Ima chargin mah lazer!"S7 Tico wrote:ok so now who do i root for? england bit the dust.
