Re: World Cup 2010
There's a World Cup this year?!
j/k - Anything that can be made into a football shape has been and England is pretty much covered in flags. I fear we may set sail.

With Rio Ferdinand out and John Terry trying to bone everyone's women, I think Jose Altidore will slip by for a goal or two. Should be an interesting match with a mess of goals.
I'm surprised England left Theo Walcott off the roster - he's a star already, and he's very young so getting some cup experience now would only make him that much better. And whats up with the Italian coach? Are there no good English coaches?

Re: World Cup 2010
Luke, theo walcott is SHITE!
He thinks he is all that, but has proven he is not yet ready to compete at the highest level. I mean come on, he cant even hold a regular spot on the gunner's starting 11.
I'm not saying he wont become a great player, although that indeed could be argued. But i believe capello is taking the better gamble with more experienced "number 7's".
Lennon has just as much pace as theo, and unlike theo, he makes sound decisions and good crosses. have you seen theo cross? its pitiful. And i watched at least 50 percent of all EPL matches last year (God bless you FSC and ESPN).
In addition to lennon, you have probably the most experience right winger in the squad: SWP. while he hasn't been in form lately, if you have seen him play, you know he is capable of mazy runs, good crosses, and the odd goal or two.
About the US, I agree that losing ferdinand is going to help us. But dont get too carried away. Carra is still a good defender. Its also good Altidore is back and 100 percent ready. He'll get fed alot from Dempsey who i have always seen as a creator.
In all I think the US has a very good chance to win or tie. If I had to place a bet, it would no doubt be for England, but I still hope the US can pull through and get us into the second round.

Re: World Cup 2010
Great opening game between Tico's home nation of Mexico and the hosts, South Africa. Mexico probably should've shut the door on SA in the first half but they didn't and they paid for it.
Now that MEX have ruined my bet for todays scores, i'll be hoping France get pwned by Uruguay.

Man of the Match? Tshabalala of South Africa. Awesome name! Mexico had to rely on a defender to score and save them late in the game.

Re: World Cup 2010
I wish USA all the best and even hope they can pull off a miracle lol but since I give them till at least the knockout stages but they have a lot of injuries to over come not just Altidore they got a few people banged up. With that being said Spain is going to take it, it's going to an early exit for someone cause it looks like there a potential Spain vs Brazil match up for Rd. 1 off the knockout stage nonetheless it should be fun to watch, but Spain has so much firepower with Fernaaaaaaadoooooooo Tooooooorrrrrrreeeeessssssss lol, David Villa, Xabi the list goes on that's just my opinion it's going to good to watch though. The RSA vs. Mex was a good one Mexico let a lot chances get away they could've easily won this but RSA had their share of missed oppurtunities as well including late when they had a scoring chance and it bounced right off the post must've beef=n gut wrenching for the fans watching and in the stadium of both teams lol but it was a good start.
Re: World Cup 2010
I was disappointed South Africa let go of marquez when he scored. I really wanted SA to win. Mexico let some good chances go by to.
Oh well, whatever team that beats mexico is cool with me.
Unlike julian says, i hate the mexico soccer team.

Re: World Cup 2010
Between the two teams there were 30 fouls and 10 shots on target. Not a terrible shot count but all the fouls really slowed down the tempo. Mexico dominated possession, but South Africa had a bunch of streaking runs. Not a bad start tho.

Lots of fouls again - a very physical game, but hardly any shots on target. This one was ugly, but props to Uruguay for holding off the French.

This was a pretty even match tbh because France were poor. Uruguay just didn't get enough decent chances. I could see them winning their group.

Re: World Cup 2010
Korea dominated greece. it was an overall good collective performance, considering SK dont have alot of individual talent (except for park).
Greece were just aweful.
Right now I'm watching my favorite player (carlitos) dominate nigeria with messi.

Re: World Cup 2010
Just got back from Tennis (lost in 3 straight sets...) now i'm off to the pub to watch the game, followed by a curry. Awesome day.
Have fun at the pub Garrett. Should be an awesome atmosphere if it's anything like a real English pub.

Re: World Cup 2010
What a great time for England to try out a new keeper! Thanks for the gift!
TBH though it is tough watching Lampard Gerrard Terry etc just having their way in the midfield. US defense is looking sloppy.

Re: World Cup 2010
Yeah, you guys got raped for about 90% of the game. James shoulda been in nets.
Rooney & Lampard didn't really play well today though. Shame we won't meet again in the comp unless both teams get to the final...which you guys won't...and nor will we if we can't create more goal chances.
Also, Glen Johnson sucks. Gary Neville ftw.

Re: World Cup 2010
Thank you Rob Green. You just handed us what might possibly be qualification to the next round.
After watching the lack of finishing, and those occasional lapses in defense, i seriously doubt England will contend the world cup.
