Hulu Coming to Xbox Live?

Apparently a "very reliable source" told the folks at GearLive that Microsoft will offer Hulu as an Xbox Live service—for a subscription fee, of course. [Gear Live via Engadget]

of course I already get hulu with the playon service and I works like a camp

I LOVE HULU that would be a great add on in my book. But really if your going to pay a fee to us Hulu on your Xbox you might as well just pay a little extra and get Netflix instead I us Hulu because its free.

Good point...unless you only pay for Internet and the subscription fee could release you from needing cable, which could save someone a ton of money...

HULU and Netflix aren't quite direct competitors. Netflix offers a very wide range of movies, and many old seasons of popular shows, but only a few current seasons (like Spartacus where each new episode was on Netflix the next day after airing). HULU on thte other hand offers generally the last 5 episodes of popular shows, and a fairly limited amount of movies IMO. So a show might allow HULU to show its most recent episodes, and then after the season finale they allow Netflix to show the full season. And the other major difference, of course, is HULU doesn't send you DVDs. It is that along with the live streaming that makes Netflix worth a subscription fee.

Rumor on the net is that hulu will be charging a fee in fall for pc usage also.

... And for the upcoming app for iPad. Although rumor has it that a stripped down "free" version will still exist for the PC at least. Personally, I just don't get it. They get revenues from ads just like TV. They really shouldn't have to charge for the service as long as ads are running.

Hell, it's better exposure than TV ads. I record and skip past ads on my TV but I am forced to actually watch the ads on Hulu. Oh well, guess that's the way things go.

If they charge something stupid it's pointless there are better options out there but if it's a reasonable amount I might consider it, it's good for TV shows you can't get on Netflix but other than that not much point to it.

For sure - plus no DVD in the mail. I hit HULU maybe once a month when I miss an episode of 30 Rock or SNL. Other than that I really don't go there. Definitely don't watch it enough to pay a monthly fee. They will lose me entirely if they change their revenue stream from advertiser driven to end user fees.

I would only do it if the fee was minimal... like $9.99 for a year. I have a feeling it will be more like $9.99 a month.
