Re: FAO Tico
I'm not paying to play the exact same game as FIFA '10 but with a few challenges to do.

FIFA World Cup is a great rental. I loved WC2006, but not worth the buy since the actual FIFA games have MUCH more to offer.
Re: FAO Tico
Can't wait for the actual World Cup. I'm looking forward to the game against you guys and Wayne Rooney tearing you to shreds.

You mean hitting people in the nuts? I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

He's much better behaved now. Though, John Terry may sleep with the wives of your players.

Oguchi Onyewu will break him if he gets close. Meanwhile, you will get a good view of Michael Bradley as he crushes your net.S7 Epic wrote:Can't wait for the actual World Cup. I'm looking forward to the game against you guys and Wayne Rooney tearing you to shreds.

Haha, ok. If world class defenders can't handle him, your players don't stand a chance.

Onyewu plays for AC Milan who, last time I checked, were still considered "world class." Jonathan Specktor is on West Ham United, and our keeper Tim Howard is with Everton FC and he's no slouch. The rest of our D are pretty scrappy too.
We last met in the World Cup 60 years ago, and USA won 1-0 (the only official match between the two). I predict a 3-2 USA victory. Even if it does go bad, the rest of the group should be a breeze - Slovenia and Algeria. I predict both England and US advance. England is ranked 9th and USA 14th in the world. Should be a great matchup to start the Cup!
The second round predicted matchups are: first in our group will face either Serbia or Ghana; second in our group will face Germany. That puts some extra importance on the US-England game since a matchup against Germany would obviously be tougher than Ghana or the Serbs.

Re: FAO Tico
AC Milan are nowhere near as good as they used to be and he didn't prevent Rooney from doing the damage against Milan in the Champions League..., West Ham are also poo (so far this season) and Everton are average (this season) and tbh, I rate Brad Friedel much, much, much higher than Howard. I hated him when he was our keeper (at Man U).
Since you seem to actually know about football you should also know that FIFA rankings count for nothing until AFTER the World Cup (even then they're pretty flawed) because they get so screwed up with some teams having quali games against countries that, arguably, shouldn't even be allowed in qualification games.

Re: FAO Tico
Hey all that means is they perhaps aren't as spoiled with the biggest paychecks, egos to match, a sense of entitlement, and extremely high expectations. England will do well not to look to far past their match with us - if they set all their focus on beating us then we will struggle to keep it close - if they let prestige and women distract them too much then they will get a rude awakening.
Agree on the rankings to a point. Other tournys should count a lot toward standing - CONCACAF and Confederations Cup are fairly major events. But yeah any game against Papua New Guinea, American Samoa, etc. shouldn't count toward your standings. Upsetting #1 ranked Spain in the Confed. Cup is tough to ignore.
Friedel is great but he's old - I know that doesn't matter as much as in other positions (eg Germany's Khan), but Tim Howard is the now guy - he crushes dreams.

Re: FAO Tico
It's too bad the only recent game we have to go off is the 08 friendly. I just remember being disappointed by both teams play when I watched. I'm sure with real rest and preparation the cup game will be much better.

Hmm, France and Argentina are both pretty strong at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing either of them lose.
I'm just kinda disappointed on Japan's group. They're my favorite team to watch but things aren't looking hot.

Re: FAO Tico
The Dutch always bring it - really talented squad. I would think that Japan could give Denmark a good fight though.
Yeah I'm hoping to see some of the big dogs go home early - it would help our road to the Cup, but also I just like hearing grown men cry.

Re: FAO Tico
United and Chelsea both won today, still a 1-point difference between the two top teams. This is gonna be a great end to the season no matter who wins.

Yeah, hope Wigan can hold the blue scum to a draw.
