DESTINY GOES GOLD AHEAD OF IMMINENT RELEASE
BY LUKE KARMALIBungie has confirmed Destiny has gone gold, meaning the final version of the game is being put on disc and boxed up.
In its weekly update for the shared world shooter, the developer confirmed that "discs are being pressed and packed into crates." That's not the only news to come out of the update, however: when Destiny launches you won't be able to trade items with other players, though you can share any loot you get with other characters on your account.
"As for swapping irons in the Tower? Nope," the developer explained. "We want you to earn ‘em. You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal. Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them, but weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."
Other information from the Q&A includes the fact you won't be able to skip orbital travel when moving from one planet to another, and Bungie isn't currently chatting about whether or not to introduce a new class or sub-class.
"You have yet to maximize your first sub-class. We have yet to even let you try a second one," the studio argued. "Ask us again once you have mastered the six classes that you'll have access to in Destiny, and we'll show what we learned while we watched you do it."

I'm not upset about no item-trades. Helps them avoid that whole underground market and keeps the focus on playing the game, not having mommy & daddy pay for your top-tier items.

^This! You can still keep stuff to gear up future characters, you just have to grind it out with your first one, as opposed to getting help from your friends and the other players like in D3.AtrumX wrote:I'm not upset about no item-trades. That is all pretty awesome news. I agree they are making a great move with the no item transfers.
