Final fantasy 14 PS4 beta

Can now be downloaded and you can register to play in it. It starts on Saturday and goes for 2 weeks. I think the full game launches in april. If I enjoy the beta I might check it out for a couple months.

I still play ff14 regularly, and they have some pretty major patches that release every 3 months, so it keeps me interested.  I wonder if you'll be given separate servers for ps4 beta testing, or if you'll be able to join in on servers that are already being played on.

Nice.  A buddy of mine is real big into Final Fantasy.  I'm sure he'll be partaking.

I have thought about it.  Might have to check out the beta.

But if I could I'd certainly run the beta. Once I get the PS4 I may very well get this game as one of the first.

It looks like for the first phase of beta, you'll be put into ps4 beta testing servers and after the first phase your characters will be deleted.  For the second phase you'll be able to play with people on PS3 and PC and keep your characters.  I could be wrong though.

Never really got into FF games.  Played a little on SNES and Gameboy but just never caught the but and became a fan.  Is this going to have a MP component where you can party with other players?

It's an MMO.  You can party with other players.

Thanks for the info Xpert.  Hadn't really looked into this game so I didn't know if it was SP like the others.

I am going to DL the beta and probably check this out but the main thing keeping me from playing this is ESO.  I know I am only really going to have time for one MMO and for me ESO looks right up my alley.  Still, I'll check it out and see what's what.

I'm waiting on ESO.  There's just something about it that makes me disagreee with it, though I couldn't tell you what exactly.  I'd also need to do more reading and I'd like to see what ESO's plans are for future updates/expansions.  Also don't like how PC, PS4, and XB1 are all separated.  I like how FF14 allows PS3, PS4, and PC players to play together.

I agree with you there.  I don't know why more game don't embrace cross-platform gaming.  It would be cool to play FF14 with you on PC and me on PS4.  And hey, maybe I'll get hooked on the beta.

...as for ESO - I just know I am a big ES geek so I have sort of nerded out.  I am also new to MMO's so I am not sure I will know if it's lacking compared to other MMO's but I do know I want to give it a shot.

Yeah, I wish I would have tried the beta so I can get a sense of it.  I really enjoyed Oblivion and Skyrim, and when I saw the gameplay for those I thought 'I need this game!'.  For this MMO, I'm not getting that same feeling.  It just feels like something is lacking somewhere.  I'd love to try it sometime after release, but I also don't want to spend the initial $60 (which seems absurd imo) just to see if the game is for me or not.  I'll likely have to wait until they hand out free trials.

The second beta test phase on the PS4 will begin this friday, 04/04/14, for those who are interested.  The characters you create will not be deleted this time, so if you do decide to get the game when it releases on the 14th, you'll be able to continue right where you left off from the beta.  I believe you could also use characters you played with on the PS3 and PC if you played on those systems.

It runs from 4/4 to 4/7, so only for the weekend.

Also, I'd be able to play with you if you joined my server since this phase of beta allows you to play on all public servers.  I'm on the Gilgamesh server if you decide to join my server/participate in the beta.

Not sure if I'll be on that, but I'll look for the server if I do.

No problem, was just throwing my server out there as an option in case any PS4 owners decided to participate in the beta.

Was sick all weekend and missed out on this.  Although I am leaning towards ESO at this point anyway so no big loss.  Sorry I missed you Xpert.

Yeah, I tried to raise my interest in ESO by watching videos and streams, reading articles and reviews, etc.  If I'm to play an subscription-based MMO, I'd prefer to be confident that I'd be interested in it for the long haul.  I feel that if I gave ESO another chance, I'd enjoy it initially, but get bored of it around a month.  So I'm going to have to opt out of ESO and patiently wait for The Elder Scrolls VI.

I've been playing ESO a lot, it's a blast. IDK about everyone else, but if feels just like an elder scrolls game to me. I'd definitely recommend it. Then again, I'm treating it like a game and just playing through the various stories, doing random quests I stumble upon, etc. 

If, after a few months, I've finished all that and want to keep going then I'll worry about PVP, end-game content, etc. Until then it's basically just another ES game for this guy
