Crypto Coin Mining
Anyone else do much (any) mining of Bitcoins or the various altcoins? Since I thought it was hilarious starting up, I've been mining dogecoins for a while on my home pc GPU.
No point in regular people mining Bitcoins anymore thanks to ASICs. Litecoins will probably go that way soon too.

Re: Crypto Coin Mining
Mainly just doing it for kicks now. Dogecoins are pretty popular and easy to mine still (my 560ti alone pulls in about 2000 coins daily while I'm at work). If something happens and bitcoin crashes, some coin will replace it. That would probably be the Litecoin. Then another coin would take Litecoins current place. If that happens to be dogecoins this guy makes out like a bandit.
If not, no loss. Just the initial setup time, no investment needed.

If you mine alt coins any CPU/GPU will do just fine. The idea in mining alt's is that either bitcoin will continue to rise, as will alt values, or (optimally) bitcoin will crash and one of the alts will take its place. Basically, if you don't pay for your power bill/usage it's a free way to potentially make some $.
