Astro's and XB1

for all you Astro headset gamers out there this just post via there FB

Xbox One: Game Audio for the Xbox One will function as normal, through the optical output – meaning all our current products will deliver full Dolby ® Digital GAME AUDIO on the XBOX One. However, the chat connector on the controller is now a proprietary connector, meaning that our current products will require an adapter to connect to the controller for Xbox Live voice chat. Fortunately, until this chat adapter is available, the built-in Kinect microphone will provide full voice communication access to Xbox Live while using ASTRO headsets on the Xbox One. 



Regarding new Xbox One products in our pipeline, we are proud to reveal ASTRO is now an officially licensed Xbox One partner. As such we are excited to work with the Microsoft team and the Xbox One but at this time we are not allowed to comment on the specifics of any products we have under development. Rest assured, none of our current products will be made obsolete by anything going on in the Xbox One ecosystem.

I was thinking the same thing, but it doesn't look so clear cut now:

I would have thought Bluetooth is Bluetooth- pair it and go. Still, I don't think it's such a smart idea to buy any system based on the headset you currently have (what happens when it breaks 3 months after launch?), but it would be nice to be able to use it after you quit playing the current gen.

Yeah doesn't sound like a smart move to me. Why not just have it in there from the get go.

That is what I was saying.  "Same boat" meaning they won't work right away on either the PS4 or the 360.  The only real difference is not needing to buy an adapter but that's not a big deal in the long run.  The bad part is not being able to use my headset with either system right away.

Lame sales tactics on both ends. I don't mind (as I've said before). I would just prefer to buy one new headset that would work for both XBO and PS4.

According to this, full game audio and chat will be available via the DS4's 3.5mm jack.  If this is correct, any wired headset should automatically work with the PS4.  In which case the Astro's would work, just not with the mixamp.  Seems to me if this was the case they would try and spin it that way to appease customers.  Guess I'll find out next month and report back.
