AT&T vs Comcast
So we're looking to try and save some money and Comcast doesn't really want to work with us. The wife and I are thinking about dropping phone and tv from Comcast and then picking up a similar U-verse TV plan from AT&T. I hear nothing but crap about AT&T Internet so I have no plan of dropping Comcast internet, but I was wondering if anyone has U-verse and if so, what your thoughts are.
I priced out the programming with no deals and it looks like U-verse will be just under $100 for what we want, but I haven't checked Internet only price from Comcast to compare current Comcast bundle to splitting between the two companies.

the only thing I understand from u-verse is if you have alot of tvs and computers running at the same time it will slow down the net extremely because they use the same in flow of net , where comcast the tv and internet is different , but if you have alot of tvs or computers its kinda the same

Well, like I said we wouldn't get net from them and most likely we'd only use 1 TV at a time so that shouldn't b a problem, but I appreciate the info.

Looks like we're gonna keep Comcast net, drop phone, and get U-verse on 2 tvs which should save us $500 in the first year. If anyone uses U-verse I'd love some input on it, I hear their on-demand is not as quick to get new items and doesn't have as much as Comcast, but that's not an issue for us.

I got an ad today that was $20 per month introductory rate for 1 year for U-verse. #1 I hate introductory "we gonna F you in the A later though after you forget to cancel" rates. #2 they advertise "up to 3 MbPS downloading" which made me LOL.

Re: AT&T vs Comcast
So we got the U-Verse set up today and while I haven't been able to put it thru its paces, I think we'll be pleased. The second receiver for the bedroom and larger, more capable DVR are nice too.
Had a bit of a problem with the setup in the bedroom because the people that lived in the house before us used a bunch of random splitters for the cable lines and then finished the basement and hid the splitters in the celing and walls. The problem was that the bedroom and the game room are on the same splitter and I couldn't get AT&T on one line and Comcast on the other. Ended up fixing it with a wireless receiver which is nice because now I can watch tv outside if I'm grilling, doing yard work, partying, etc.
For those of you that know this stuff and are like you're supposed to use the phone lines for AT&T, that is true but neither tv has a phone jack within 15' of the tv and we didn't want to run cable all over the rooms.
Another nice thing is that the Internet speed seems to have gone up, probably because the phone and cable are eating up bandwidth too. We did however cut the burst option to the Internet so we'll have to see how it plays out the next time I'm on the Xbox.
