I initally pre-ordered the standard edition. I haven't been a fan of Limited Editions, especially for Halo after their Halo 2 case which didn't do a good job with holding the CD. However, after looking at it, it may be worth the extra investment. If I get the war-games map pack ($25 value) with the LE and all of the tiny stuff like skins, emblems, armor, etc... I may have to get the LE.

Closest thing I could find. Sounds like the pass goes on sale, but the DLC is coming out afterward in groups.

I pre-ordered my game again, but in Iowa this time, and so far, I'm enjoying the GameStop there much more than where I usually go in Minnesota. Iowa GameStop told me right away that Limited Editions were sold out, what the pre-order bonuses for the game were, and the season pass thing for getting maps early and a little cheaper WHEREAS Minnesota GameStop would have been like "derp idk". Was a little bummed that I couldn't get the Limited Edition, but I'm getting Halo to play Halo so it still works.

Very cool. Our gamestop is a mix. They try really hard to help, but don't really know a ton. They do have their dates and extras down though.

On a side note I got the 6th off. So, Halo binge that day.

I think I may have been able to find a limited edition. I was searching Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop, Amazon, and a few others and they had no available limited editions. I decided to check Newegg and I was given the option to add the Limited Edition to my cart, so I quickly checked out and not long after it said it was sold out. I should have just reserved it from the get-go instead of the regular edition. I just thought it would be full of developer interviews and boring stuff like that, but turns out it wasn't. Lesson learned, do more research on Limited Edtions instead of assuming based on what previous limited editions for games have had. I'd just have to wait a bit to play the game, stupid shipping...

Yeah, I love shopping at Newegg because they usually offer free 3-day shipping on everything and I've had no issues with damaged packages. Plus, I get emails from them which have coupons that take $10-$20 off top game titles if you pre-order by certain dates, which is usually worth that 3-day wait for shipping. Didn't see anything like that for Halo though.

Newegg had a $15 off Halo 4 preorder but you had to preorder it by 10/14. Don't feel bad cuz I missed that deal too.

My brother got in on that. I'm too much of a fan of midnight releases to buy online though. Even if I don't play the game that night I just enjoy going.

Yeah, it was just the regular edition. MS Store has the deal Droopy mentioned where you preorder H4 and get $25 off next preorder once H4 ships. You can then use the $25 towards a preorder of Zombies 3 and get 1600 MP free. However, they're both regular editions.

As for the midnight releases, that would be my prefered option but with my current situation at work I can't wait up for a midnight release so I was looking for the cheapest price or the best deal.

I still haven't preordered since I'm still trying to close on my house. Hoping to have that done by 10/31. I think I will either preorder late from Walmart or just go pick up a copy. For Halo 3 a friend and I forgot to preorder so we drove up at midnight to Walmart and just walked in a bought a LE edition. There is a Gamestop right next door and the line there hadn't moved at all before we were in and out. Walmart seems to always order more than they need. Gamestop plays the false scarcity game on customers which I'm not cool with. Just my humble opinion.

Preordered my standard edition from MS Store today. I picked the free shipping option so I'm not sure when the game will come. The option was like 3-5 days for shipping but I'm figuring I'll get it on release day in the afternoon. That's how it worked with my preorder for BF3, but that was from Amazon.

Have the limited edition pre-ordered. I usually do a full play through the night of launch on normal or heroic. Unfortunately, I like to do my first play through solo so I can really enjoy the story without interruption or talking during cut scenes.
