Karl-Magnus Troedsson, CEO of Battlefield developer DICE, announced at an Electronic Arts event last night that customizable servers would be available for consoles in the future.

"All active players out there playing on consoles today will now have the opportunity to customize their servers and set them up exactly how they want them to play," said Troedsson. "Now this is a feature that in Battlefield on PC we've had for some time, but it's an absolute first on console. So, we're pretty excited about this."

The developer did not share details on pricing or a release timetable. In the meantime, start saying your prayers, Operation Metro.

just out of curiosity if there was a pot for renting a sever would it just go to a pay-pal type of account? not sure how much it would be to rent a server but if we need to contribute i wouldn't mind either. Either way i'm sure this discussion will come up when the time comes up.

Those interested in renting a server can access that through the conveniently named "RENT A SERVER" menu in the game. Servers can be rented in increments of 1 day ($1.49), 7 days ($6.99), 30 days ($24.99) and 90 days ($64.99). DICE is ramping up this service, so if the option is grayed out, it means rentals are currently at capacity.

and noobs cant use the death drone to go up places the should not be

plus like Zals was saying the other day in game if who ever mods this server keep it fair and clean were people only get banned for stuff like team killing and sh1t thats wrong
(and not stupid sh1t like o im getting pwned i banned the dude skull freakin\' me )

people will be coming back to are server which i hope we can name it and that will help get the word out!

Just seems to be the way of life in gaming nowadays unfortunately. If there is money to be made they will charge for it, no matter what it is.

I don't think that is is, but that he feels like I do. I love BF3, just like I loved 1943, BC1 and BC2, it just pisses me off that they can't get the lobby system correct on a game that prides itself in its multiplayer. It is so annoying.

I was going to trade my copy in, but held on to it hoping this server stuff (and the new small maps) will make it worth my time playing again.
